The ruling party by kristoffer zetterberg
The ruling party, a Twine game about having the cake, but maybe not eating it.
Play in fullscreen if you like.
Four endings. Or perhaps it's five.
Update the web page if you want to restart from the beginning.
Update:
Added a postcompo version, where it's no longer necessary to restart from the beginning to experience the other endings. Instead, you have the option to go back and replay from the middle part and forward when you reach the end credits and scroll down the page.
There are other changes in the postcompo version too, the story is the same but the flow and structure have some minor alterations, and personally I think it's better and closer to what I had in mind.

Another swede in the compo! Fun..
We had some contact during the last LD?
Nice looking game.. this is the third meta Twine game.. have I missed something?
yeah, meta is all the rage right now! no, but seriously, my trend-o-meter is constantly off, so i guess it's a fun coincidence. or perhaps twine is suited for meta-stories.
and yes, we had. those sure were the days.
I think I would've liked more choice, and I guess the whole point here is "Have your cake and eat it too" so choosing only one eventuality makes sense..
But it felt a little like a story that had more depth than I was allowed to understand through the text, though as I mentioned this may have been due to the beginning, which almost made it seem bugged :P
That might be a danger in a ludum dare, submitting something that could be construed as bugged..
The choke points I found a little distracting and chopped the flow...
Your writing has a way of drawing the reader into the experience, like actually living that life for a moment though it's only text on a screen.
and thanks for playing and commenting, all of you!
But yeah, nicely atmospheric. I'm not sure the repetition of the intro helps the narrative, but once you get past that point the game does a good job of drawing you in.
thanks for all your comments!
Extremely original concept; Twine is perfect for this kind of storytelling, but I've never seen it done before. The writing is good in a low-key way, with some beautiful descriptions and great use of detail (such as the "Frankenstein" bit). By and large, it felt very realistic.
I like the way you used the music link.
Good story and fits very well with the theme. Plus, we Swedish Twine users have got to stick together, right?
Hover effect of the text is breaking some lines badly, makes me think you change the text content on rollover.
