My Boxy Friend by TheH

[raw]
made by TheH for LD28 (COMPO)
My boxy friend

controls:
----------------

Move: arrow keys for left and right
Jump: Space (you can sort of wall jump)
E and W both will pick up your boxy friend from anywhere
in the room as long as it's there
E (while carrying): drops crate in front of where you're facing
W (while carrying): throws the crate in front of where you're facing
R: restarts level

Escape: quits the game (same as just x'ing out)

this game was made for the 28th Ludum Dare competition. normally you have around
48 hours for this competition, but because of obligations, I was only able to
work a maximum of about 30 hours.

I'm pretty happy with what I was able to pull off, and I probably could have done
more with less.

I may revisit this project later on, but for now it was a good break from other projects.

I hope you enjoy the little game I put together, and that you also had fun with your own project if you entered!

Fun game! Reminds me a lot of Portal. Nice graphics, okay sounds. I find if you through boxy friend into the pit at the beginning you get this error;

############################################################################################
FATAL ERROR in
action number 1
of Step Event0
for object oExit:

Push :: Execution Error - Variable Get 1.phy_position_x(53, -1)

Sound gets annoying when you HAVE TO push boxy friend into the ci-*BEEOOOP*ceiling*BEEOOOP* and the*BEEOOOP* sound keeps on playing over and*BEEOOOP* over and *BEEOOOP* over. Haha. Resolution and window size is a bit large for my monitor, and I couldn't see all of the screen at any given time. Keep it up!

I too get the same error mentioned before.
It was really fun, if a little slow at times! It wasn't very complex, but it still felt puzzling. Though some of the puzzles and their elements either didn't seem to do anything, or worked fine by themselves.
The physics could use some work: I had to use and abuse the "wall-jump" to get on the top platform on the top-rightmost section. Other than that, Boxy Friend spazzes out if you're carrying it and bump into a wall, but it's fine.
...The ending gave me flashbacks to Portal, though. You bugger! ;)
