Shapin' Up by kik0729

Use the mouse to move your shape and to go through the shape-sized holes, and change shapes (quite literally) with the number keys!

My objective with this game was to make a hypnotizing experience, focusing on music and the aesthetics, mostly basing myself on the Outrun genre, and visual style of Drive and Hotline Miami, in an abstract sort of way.
I really like to make music, so I really tried to make a good, fun song.

Nice game and good audio. At first I thought the game could be a bit more forgiving with the shape placement, but now I can imagine that it is fine the way it is. Maybe just add an indicator where the shape did not fit when you lose.

Nothing seems to happen when I run the exe. I get the usual warning about software from an unknown source, I click 'run', and then nothing :(

Looks like a lot of the games during this ludum dare are somewhat based on the "Hole in the wall" concept. The game is pretty well polished, the audio is suiting, so overall pretty good! Good job

Really nice music! I included it in my video compilation series of Ludum Dare games, if you’d like to check them out :) https://youtu.be/6jh8RTn7UxY

Nice game play and music,

I also especially like the score screen, very clean, you clearly see what score you have and its not in the way / distracting during the game play :)

The music is nice and relaxing but the game lacks feedback, took me sometime at the beginning to understand what i was supposed to do. And then when i did I wasn't able to do it properly because I never knew how much time i had left before hitting the shape. I'm sorry I wasn't able to enjoy the game. Maybe with a little bit more feedback it could really be a cool game !

Music definitely works. I could imagine it being integrated even more with some disco-like flashing or other graphics that builds on the mood and also distracts you from the shape-matching task. Probably the difficulty progression could ramp up more gradually, making it really easy and relaxing in the beginning so you can just enjoy yourself, and after a minute or two it starts getting more hairy. The "holes" (which feel more like objects, maybe they should show a pattern/background inside?) might even have more funky movement than a straight line to make it interesting. Could be an alternative to create challenge balanced with the boundary tightness, so weirdly moving larger holes are similarly difficult as small ones with a predictable path.

Oh, the huge level/score splash screen isn't very rewarding. I'd prefer something less jarring which keeps a sense of the playfield while you prepare for the next match.

Pretty hard game but great adaptation of the theme and I loved the audio!
