Escape from the pit! by Been

[raw]
made by Been for LD35 (COMPO)
My first Ludum Dare (and first Gamejam at that). There's a lot of things I'm not happy about with this game, but I'm glad I actually submitted something.

It started of as a reimagining of the 3 vikings with shapeshifting, but that didn't quite stick. Instead you get a tale of injustice and revenge, as portrayed by silent primitive shapes.

There's a couple of physics glitches that I haven't been able to figure out in the time I have left, mostly involving the ball. If you find yourself unable to jump, change to any shape, then change back to fix it.

Edit: Uploaded the wrong web format eariler, so the game wasn't embedded properly. It should be fixed now. The game itself hasn't changed.

Beat it! The boss was a little tricky, but I might have just got the colors mixed up. Enjoyed playing through it! Fun to have new mechanics every few seconds. Loved the bouncy bits. Thanks!

Liked the pace that you introduced the mechanics into the game, gave just the right amount of time to work out the tools you had to beat the boss.

Good game mechanics and clever puzzles!

I definitely had some problems the circle's physics (it doesn't seem to jump properly all the time), but it was nothing that caused too much of a problem. The physics engine overall was pretty impressive.

I like the fact you've put in checkpoint loading, as I had a few troubles with the big jump near the start and the near-end jump. I also like how the different shapes has different strengths and weakness and power ups were available to change these around a bit. It was good fun and quite a decent challenge!

Completed it in 384 seconds. :)

Good job!
I like the idea that it's not just transforming, but also use the visual specificity of the shapes to build this level, feels pretty nice.

Oh. I found the trick to jump really high. So pretty happy until I fell in the pit again! Nice entry, good use of the mecanics.

Interesting concept, but the physics were just too wonky for me to get past the slide.

Very nice and clever puzzles! I like how it wasn't needed any text to explain the mechanics. They explained by themselves. :)

An interesting idea and I liked how the abilities sort of corresponded to the shape appropriately.

There where glitches, as you say, but it don't prevent me to win, so that's not so important. Well done. :)
