Make sure to use the Fullscreen Button if you use the Embeded version.
You are a shape-shifting (errr... more like stretching) Swedish Fish just trying to get some pizza! The goal of the level is to collect 12 pizzas! You have to try and avoid Eye Twitching Eddy and few different spikes! Use the arrow keys to change directions. Some blocks allow you to STOP stretching while others don't. Once you pass a checkpoint, you can press that number on your keyboard to go back there at anytime.
My daughter Jasmine Finamore (10 years old) drew all the graphics while I did the coding. This was my first Ludum Dare!!!!!! What a ride it has been. Thank you so much for checking out our game!

Fun moment anyway! A bit laggy on some particle effect but good job !
:D
Really lovely implemented, top!
Brilliant.
Some problems with the particles (almost froze the screen) and checkpoint arrival.
I couldn't figure out how to get past the teleport blocks on section 3 though. :(
I struggled to get past the moving enemies as they'd hit my tail and kill me, but it's okay because every instance of "Sugar Explosion" made me giggle.
Congrats on your first LD, and definitely keep doing this together :)
I have two kids myself and I wonder what crazy sprites they'd come up with...
Nice work!
The controls are a bit confusing though... Sometimes the arrow key don't change the direction. And some initial hint about what blocks cause grow-stop would be appreciated.
Thanks for making this :)
The music is pretty good, however, it feels a little out of place compared to the rest of the game's elements. Also, at the beginning, the second group of background text is hard to read unless the player stops moving. Maybe it would be nice if you showed that text in the first area, so that the player can read it before they start moving.
Well done! Glad to see that you made this a family activity!
The mechanics and level design were awesome and was a good challenge to keep me engaged!
The only improvement I would work on next time is the music only because it gets a little repetitive.
Overall excellent and fun game! :)
You should be proud of that daughter of yours!
Also, gotta love "Sugar explosion" sound effects; especially since I looked up Swedish Fish. Audio in general was fine; I didn't find the music too annoying, either. Graphics aren't really top-notch, but they have some variety and for a 10-years old they look promising.
(oh, and a technical note: the text box in tutorial seems to be above the Swedish Fish, i.e. when Fish enters its area, it becomes invisible; since you're using GameMaker, perhaps you could have set Fish's depth to lower value in the object settings?)
It might not be the most polished game out there, but it's adorable in its own way. Keep improving. ;)
@Alphish, Thank you so much for the feedback. I had the depth changed on the tutorial but once the fish went in front of it then you could not see the words anymore... it was a tough choice!! :) Thanks again for your feedback and for playing my game!!
I'm really glad it makes you happy! :)
Didn't had the time to play the LD game yet, but yours is on the list now! :D
Specially loved the idea and the rad audio! Congrats!
Also, personally, I think the graphics is rather flashy and distracting. I would like to focus more on the stage, hazards, and the Swedish fish, and less so on the background candy canes, purple vapors, and foreground lollipops. It doesn't help that the fish covers the text, either.
I love this SE!!!!
I think you can work with less colors on screen at the same time, it really hurts the eyes! hehehe
Nice entry!
