Beneath the Game Developer by shs

[raw]
made by shs for LD29 (COMPO)
What lies beneath the surface of the game developer's curious and excitable personality?

Uses the keyboard and occasionally the mouse. Made with Unity.

About Mac/Linux versions: I don't have a mac or linux computer, so I can't confirm that these will work properly.

This game is so true! Nice job. Although it seems if I have more then one key pressed it won't register the other clicks.

This comments sums it up for me too: "6/5 humor. But now I'm depressed." Depressing, funny, and I'm sure most of us can relate!

It is a nice commentary of people trying to make games at home. Couldn't find the button that told the character to go to Amazon and buy some books to read though.

Very true look at game development and kind of depressing since I'm sure all of us here want to do it haha (since we're doing it right now). The clicking to load the game was really the only manner or interaction which is kind of a drag. Cool game though (:

10/10 I CRY ERRYTIME

Would be even better if there was a ``good'' ending if you chose to make all of your games in java or something (and become the next minecraft)

What an extremely annoying input method. As others said, a sad truth, but I was more annoyed at the game by the end than sympathizing.

EXCELLENT GAME!

Overall this game really played with my emotions. I was deeply immersed. Life was brilliantly captured in the simple mechanics related to the process of game development specific to a pessimistic perspective. I experienced joy, frustration, and sadness. Great ending to this emotional journey.

Loved it.

I love meta games, and this Paper Mario like style is nice!

As a Game Dev: I'm depressed and scared...
So... good job! lol

Funny and relatable, although honestly, I think most people who get into a hobby like this handle this sort of disappointment differently.

Never felt either the hopefulness or disappointment of the character, relating to making video games, of course, but I believe I can understand how this will probably happen to a lot of people. Nice fun experience!

If this was based on me 90% of the game creation minigames would fail and I would start again :P great entry though!

The unity web player does not play on linux, and the windows one would not render text in wine. Can you please release a linux binary?

Interesting idea, but the gameplay was rather lacking. Should've used some voice synthesizer for voice overs akin to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGar7KC6Wiw :P.
