Surface Dungeon by ForeseenParadox

[raw]
made by ForeseenParadox for LD29 (COMPO)
This was my first Ludum Dare. This game was made from complete scratch in java with the Java2D API. This has been an extremely rewarding experience. I've learned alot during this compo and definitely be partaking in more Ludum Dares. One of the main things that I've learned is to focus on game development - not engine development when given 48 hours. I made the engine from scratch and it only left me with about 5 hours to make the actual game. Therefore, this game is not as polished as it could have been. You can definitely tell by the poor level design xD But anyways, I hope you enjoy it!

Couldn't get very far, a restart button would have helped :P
Well since you've made it in 5 hours you've done pretty well.

Same as above, also I got stuck between two columns on the right of the first floor. Will try to finish it later when I'll have some time !

I wish that there was also a restart, but it is still a pretty good game for the time you had :) I included it in part 2 of my LD29 compilation video series, if you'd like to check it out :)

I really like challenging platformers like this, but there are two issues that can make it too frustrating; the lack of the restart button and some issues with collision detection.

Controls are really smooth, I liked it (and wished I do it like that too)! But some way to restart the game would help a lot.
Still, the level design is okay for something done in 5 hours. Good job!
