Under the bed by Kyatric
A HTML5 game made with Construct2.
Use the arrow keys or WASD or ZQSD to move the character and its candle to light your way.
Story: At night, a girl falls asleep with her Doll Grishka by her side. Soon, a monsterish hand comes from under the bed...
Use a modern up to date browser (Chrome or FireFox) and make sure to also have updated your graphic card drivers.
---
My first time completing a compo entry (usually I take too much time and end up entrying jams). In that, it's already a victory :)
Please leave any feedback and I hope you enjoy(ed) playing my game :D

I found the controls a bit frustrating, though, in that it was hard to keep slow enough so the candle didn't blow out, which meant the pace was slower than I would have liked.
Good graphics and theme feel to it though. Thank you.
Good Game.
Discussing with a friend who also tested the game after submission, an idea to keep the pace "better" would be to add already lighten areas where the player could go at his own pace without caring about the candle.
That could, I guess create areas of relief and make you dive back into the darkness after a while.
Thanks a lot for the feedback !
I already played and rated your game earlier today, but since you wrote a nice long comment at my game, it only seems fair to give you a comment as well.
First of all, I think it's a nice concept, I think you can do some fun things with the light mechanic. But to be honest, I don't really like the execution of it.
It's kind of annoying that the candle goes out when you move. That concept could work, but it can be quite frustation when you have to stop every three seconds to get from point A to point B. (especially since the player is really slow) The fact that most of the game consists out of walking empty spaces doesn't really help. I died more often because of walking a little too long rather than the monsters killing me.
There isn't much else to talk about. I think you did a good job with the graphics and I definitely like some details like the staring eyes.

I didn't read the comments above me at first, so I could give you a non-biased comment myself. Lighten areas could be a nice addition, although I'd combine it with the idea of GertJohnny. You could add slow walking and a running system. However, make sure that there is a nice balance between the two of them, so the pacing doesn't get out of balance.
Congratulations on finishing your compo entry!
Thank you very much everyone for the comments and feedback, I greatly appreciate it !
