Thank you for checking out my first Ludum Dare entry!

Explore a small mine and dig up items for points! Watch out for skeletons, but be quick or you'll run out of time to mine! The deeper you go the more dangerous it becomes and the more riches await you!

Goal: Amass as many points as you can before you perish or run out of time to mine!

If you can make it to Level 10 or even Level 20 (which might be overly hard in my last balancing before submitting...) then you will really start to rake in the points by unlocking the rarest ores. You can find more hearts and more time among what you dig up in the ground. Every level has them but they will be randomly placed.

Controls: Keyboard (explained in game too)

Keys to move in menus and in game
to Mine in game

to Pause in game
to change resolution in menus

Hiscores: Automatically keeps local hiscores for you.

The game records the scores of the top five games in terms of points earned, floors cleared, and time spent alive. If you did better on any previous attempt in any category, the game will let you know when your run is over.

Non-Windows Users:

Sorry to anyone who can't play, but I don't have the extra GM:Studio modules bought in order to export to Web/Mobile/other OS platforms.

Tools

GameMaker Studio
sfxr (for the simplistic sounds)

Known Issues

Some effects, such as the ore that displays after you mine it will continue to move while paused. Everything that is non-trivial, such as collisions and enemies, should properly pause.

Want to cheat? Use the Konami code on the title screen. Then, in game you can use G, N, QWERTY, and Space to use my old debugging tools.

Needed some music and maybe a little bit of combat.

Nice. It would be nice if the bots chased the player.

Took me a while to figure out you had to hold the mining button down (I kept tapping it and wondering why nothing happened). Would have liked to see some other level designs, or something where the levels layout added some more strategy to the game; however, as nice solid first entry complete with sound and nice fluid control.

Made it to level 9 with a score of 6415. Nice and solid, although perhaps a bit uneventful.

Excellent little game! Reached the unobtainium level, but could not go further because of lack of time.
Graphics were good, but you should say somewhere that 'Z' is to be hold to mine.
Once I understood that, the game was entertaining. Good job!

Very complete game. Nice graphic style. Just pressing Z worked fine for me. Better chance to find more time bonuses would help.

The mining mechanic could become an interesting one, if the game was tweaked a lot. The enemies definitely need to be more dangerous, and the pace has to be increased. Got to level 10, with 6985 points, 2 platinum found.

Liked the graphics, but finding out how to properly mine takes a while, as you have to press Z (not hold, as some think) and don't move until he has finished mining. That's why I often accidently interrupted my mining by moving right before it finished. Would be great if holding Z would prevent that.
Also it was missing some sort of challenge, besides the time limit.
