Attack of the Martin Vegetables by FrederickK

[raw]
made by FrederickK for LD29 (COMPO)
Edit: Added a, still incomplete, but much more refined version. The original is still untouched.
New version has more animations and a counter of how many vegetables are left. There is no end screen yet, so if it is 0, you won!
You have 3 minutes, if you can't find them, you lose!

Well, had twelve hours to do, very unfinished and almost unplayble, I will try to do a post-jam. :\
The idea is that there are angry vegetables in the ground and you have to defeat them, but because they are Beneath the Surface (:D) you can't see them, having to stop to hear they moving.

Controls:
WASD - Move when not listening
Mouse1 - Remove the vegatable off the ground, try not spam this...
Mouse2 - Stop to hear the ground.
When the vegetable are removed, use mouse1 to smash them! Be quick, or he will bury itself again!

There is 3 vegetables, if you smash 3, you win.

Because it's incomplteness, I don't mind don't not be rated, but feedback will be, as always, much appreciated! :D

Pretty cool game, using sound! A few nitpicks: I thought the sounds would play automatically. I didn't know I had to click the right mouse button. Upon learning this I just spammed the RMB. Secondly, a win/lose state would make the a lot better. (Although I understand you didn't have time!) Some audio/visual cues when smashing those pesky plants would be great, too. I played without knowing whether I have smashed them or not.

Using sound to guide vegetable searching was creative

I liked the fact my job was to kill vegetables with legs. I didn't understand the sound mechanic though

I think the sounds mechanic is a cool concept. If you had the time, some ambient background music and animations would help the overall experience.

It's a bit hard to figure out what's going on if you didn't read the instructions. I like the look of the graphics with the artwork casting shadows.
