Seven Souls by BrothersT
This game is designed to have multiple outcomes, but unfortunately we didn't complete it in time. You can still get some of the way through the branching storylines.
We've uploaded what we have (gets broken as you go on) and you can at least enjoy the first stage of the game - which runs v. smoothly. Then my brother (programmer) is going on holiday so I'm (artist) going to try and complete a post compo version ASAP. But judge based on what we submitted originally please :)
Team was: As always - Joseph Thomson (Code) Robert Thomson (Lead Character animation)
Amazing Teammates:
Rufus Blacklock - Backgrounds and music
Tony Clarke - Story and character design
Henry Chung - Sound and additional character animation

I REALLY loved the aesthethics and the audio. The characters were unique and charming, everything looked so pretty. The music was spot-on and the chatter sounds added to the style and the mood.
I definitively want to see a completed post-compo version :)
Red Light Collective - Thanks very much! Glad you like it, and I agree I think our sound guy did an awesome job, especially since he's never done it before! Our twitter handle is @brothersthomson !
What a beauty. Stunning artwork. Probably the most gorgeous game made this LD.
Shame you guys didnt get it finished, as i really like the whole point and click idea of influencing the townsfolk. The dialogues are really cool as well.
Would love to see a post-compo version!
As for critiques, there's a few things. Obviously, the first one is "Finish the game and let me play it!" But after that, there is a problem with text getting cut off--or the zoom going out far enough that it's hard to read. You should probably add a note mentioning that you can move your critter around, since I thought it was a point-and-click game and didn't go underwater until I saw your screenshot up there indicating that you could. And, finally, the swimming itself seems like it's pitched slightly too slow. You've got a great scrunchy swimming movement, but it doesn't seem to completely match the pace that the character is moving through the water.
Obviously, great game. I'm so glad you're doing a post-compo version!
Nice job with the mood!
- It took me a while to understand that I am the little character down there and I can actually move! It looked so much like it was just part of the scene, and I thought I could play this game just by clicking at people - and then I only noticed there were dialog options down there a few minutes later.
- It might help to have some sort of gui element indicating that I can talk to somebody.
- The sounds accompanying the dialogue are absolutely wonderful. Especially the kid!
- The "accent" of the creature is great, haha.
- Pressed Escape to close the current dialog menu. It closed the game instead without confirmation. Great. Restarting :/ (Also there doesn't seem to be a way to close the dialog menu.)
- So, I got it down to the three people on the left, but now I don't know how to go on anymore - no new dialogue options. Did I miss something earlier than I can't do anymore now? Reading the description it's probably just the current end?
That was just great! Interesting dialogue with good writing, a very clean art style that's incredibly pleasing to look at and great sound effects/music. Great job! I'm looking forward to the post compo version!
(An nau, if ya jus cam daun into the watr, I'd giff ya a gud rating fer shure!)
