Burger Cave by Resolute
Well, as my first Ludum Dare entry, I suppose this is alright. As a game, though, it could be better. This isn't even in a finished state, it's just what I could roll out before the deadline hit.
Please take a look through my source code and criticize my work. I'd love your feedback!
(P.S.: I know this really isn't good. At all.)
INSTRUCTIONS:
Click the caveman icon in the upper-right corner to spawn in one of your 10 cavemen. You can assign him to a position by dragging him over one of the stations and clicking.
-The cow makes cheese
-The firepit turns raw meat into burgers
-The stoves turn wheat into bread
-The arrow sends cavemen out of the cave to collect meat and wheat.

Can you add your game on indiexpo.net ? (it's free)
So we can include also your game in the video ;)
p.s. write #LDJAM in the game's description.
Right, you are right. Incomplete most certainly it is, but not all is lost in the land of the hopeful. Potential is present, I can feel it pulsating like the throbbing cow (nice animations there).
I can only imagine the grandeur of the burger, as none are coming out of the stove no matter how many cave men I sacrifice to it (it really looks like throwing men into the fiery machine, except they come back unharmed).
If you do decide to continue this project I can at least give a few serious suggestions as well:
- All the 10 cavemen should be in the middle of the room at the same time. The caveman dispensing button is just plain weird.
- The cavemen workers should be visible when they work. As mentioned before, them disappearing looks just plain weird.
Two is a few right?
I don't know exactly how you manage to make a burger, I understand that it is because it is unfinished (or maybe I am too noob xD). However it has potential, I like the idea, and the pixel art is cute too. You put a lot of effort into it. You did a nice job. Keep on developing!
P.S. Glad you like the "throbbing cow" animation. I made it to look especially derpy and weird because that's what I imagine milking it in the odd, cartoony world that is my imagination. :D
A big hurdle with Ludum Dare and something new and veterans struggle with is scope. Make at least 1 key thing and some way of winning or losing. Then focus on the flair and presentation.
One instance of a win/lose condition would be to feed everyone in line or lose if the line hits the cave entrance.
