Trade Imperium by Cireon

[raw]
made by Cireon for LD30 (COMPO)
This game did not entirely make the full concept, but you can read about that over here: http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/2014/08/23/ludum-dare-2-0/

How to play:
It is your goal to set up trade routes and become rich. Certain cities provide a certain commodity (recognised by their icon). To start a trade route from that city, you will have to build a trade hub there. You can then add up to five trade routes that start from that hub to other villages.
Trade routes are useless without adding vehicles to them. You can buy carts in the top left corner and apply them to trade routes using the +/- buttons in the trade hub display.
Once you start earning some money, you can also build roads to speed up your carts and deliver even more resources. Building roads can be done from the road interface, accessed by the button in the top left. Click on existing roads to upgrade them to better variants.

Hi, It runs okay but I had trouble with giant playable surface size even on widescreen laptop. Some of the UI seemed to hang half-off the visible screen (lower right corner). Good job.

Pretty cool concept. I had a cart go offroading though, haha. I'm happy to see a mute option in there, most LD games don't have that and most LD games have annoying and/or repetitive music. Yours wasn't bad, but the option was nice to have.

Neat! The game seemed a bit overwhelming at first due to the high number of goods and the size of the map - the game screen was too big for my laptop. Had fun playing it, though, and you have made a nicely complex system in such a short timeframe.

The game was great overall, the resolution could have been smaller for my 14 inch laptop screen. Other than that it was great and fun to play

Not unlike the first Railroad Tycoon :) I like it. I just need to take a bit more time to delve into this. The concept is promising.

Great trading game, although the UI was a bit complicated and overwhelming, without any tutorial. After a while I understood what all the buttons do and how to use them, but I still did not understand the numbers besides the resources of a city.
And the lose condition is a bit strange, as I just bought a road that did cost like 3$ more than I had. Then it said I was bankrupt, although I was earning like 10$ per second and was already back in the positive numbers...
