Alice Anxiety by jukimv1986
Alice Anxiety, a game about a girl with social anxiety disorder.
Based on a dating sim/visual novel gameplay, you have to manage Alice's everyday life - going to school, working part-time, trying to muster the courage to talk to kids your age and talking to your friendly uncle Jim - while at the same time trying to solve the enigmas posed by the monsters in your nightmares.
Alice's anxiety about her everyday life turns into a nightmarish world at night. A nightmare that terribly resembles her daily struggles.
Can you deal with the challenges in both worlds and help her overcome her fears?

I really like the character art, but the way you've filtered the backgrounds really doesn't work for me - it's a little too blurry and indistinct.
In terms of interface, button clicks, (definitely with buying and consuming items) would benefit from an audio cue so you know you've clicked on it properly. Clicking outside of the inventory or shop window should probably close it - I was clicking on the 'go to map' button on a few different occasions wondering why it wasn't working.
I'd love to play an extended version of this! Keep at it.
Too bad it ends with "To be continued..."
As I have social anxiety disorder myself, I could relate to Alice :)
Would love to play the continued version!
Also I should note that the Windows build is currently broken as it's missing the data folder (I was testing the web version).
By the way, I would like to thank you all on behalf of Mandarina Games and let you know that we are thinking of continuing the development of the game when the Ludum Dare ends if there is enough interest. We were not extremely happy with the results, as there were usability issues and much of the story was left out to complete the LD version, but we are confident we could bring an extended game with much more content and a more fulfilling experience, keeping the moody atmosphere as it is, and we are also excited about what this game could end up being. Please share this demo with your friends and follow us on twitter (https://twitter.com/mandarinagames) or facebook (https://www.facebook.com/MandarinaGames) to be in the know about future developments!! Thanks for playing!!!
Would have loved to keep playing after the sudden end.
I was impressed by the art as well. The gameplay was very unclear, though, and I wondered several times whether you'd not gotten around to doing the next part. Maybe the confusion is appropriate though?
I really like the game mechanic with knowledge. It would be a great way to teach people more about anxiety. Rewarding each step with more "knowledge", i.e. information on agoraphobia.
This is the sort of game that needs making and having people play. A good example of what games can be and do -- an insight into others' [internal] worlds. A refreshing change from the the usual shootey-shootey + zombie-zombie treadmill. Keep it up!
That said, I fear I may have missed something since I got into a rut (which might have been the point). School, work, couldn't talk to David (assume correct -- just says worried he'd laugh), asked Jim about poem (but wasn't aware what the poem was that I was asking about?!) who said check bookshop in Mall but no option for bookshop(?!). Ran out of progressing options (other than simply wake, sleep repeat with no progress.) Again, might be intention or might be I missed something/deviated from correct path (?)
Anyway, graded on basis that it played-through :-) Thanks!
The idea is good, it has an interesting concept about worlds connected... and I want to play more! haha
It would be good as a full game, but as is, it is quite frustrating. What about David, or the other places in the nightmare world???
The game has potential, though.
The game sounds really interesting, going through the girl disorder by learning what it is and facing what she lives everyday. The use of the theme fits nicely here.
But like others, I had troubles figuring out that I can go out during night time. At my first play I just worked and sleep during 10 days.
It could become something really great, you have solid basis here.
The music is very well done and supports the mood perfectly. Thanks!
