Run Out in Space by oldpizza

[raw]
made by oldpizza for LD30 (JAM)
First time using Unity then promptly pretty much ignored everything it offered. The car may be borrowed, but as you can probably tell from the rest of the assets, i'm no artist. Running out of time so uploading as is. Click to start then WASD or arrow keys to go go go!

The year is 2084. The human race has explored and colonized a number of planets connected via portal roads.

You are a delivery driver delivering stuff to planets that have run out.

Love smooth car movement, but what the goal of the game and how to fail?

Kept waiting for something to happen, but then realized I kept on playing it when nothing did. Soothing and cool, a nice break to help me relax. Great!

Nice try. Too bad it's not really a game (misses checkpoints, timer etc) now it's more of a techdemo.

Not sure if something eventually happens, but i drove for a while without seeing anything other than open road. The driving feels really good though, and it makes me nostalgic for old driving games I used to play.

Enjoyed just driving a bit and listening to the music. Good job. Any chance of a source upload? :) Would love to see the track generation.

Would look much better if you made the playfield non-transparent.

This feels great, good gameplay and nice mood. Tho, I miss some relevant arts for the car and an actual objective to my driving!

The technical level of the road is really great, and you do a good job of getting the car to respond to the shifts in height, but... the feel is really off.

It's a whole bunch of little things that add up - The background scrolls waaaay too fast when you turn, so you feel like you're driving in circles, rather than making progress. The car has no sound or graphical effects when turning, so it feels floaty, especially on the hard corners (which is a shame, because otherwise the car handles really well). The music choice too, feels very light and pressure-free, which doesn't fit a convertible burning rubber down a space road at all - I was expecting some Perturbator up in there.

You have some rad framework here; go and give this some more tweaks, and it'll be really fun to play!

Nice, is the track randomly generated? Too bad you couldn't finish it, dropping in some objectives would have turned this toy into an awesome entry.

(Also totally unrelated but I found the "Support this" button a bit uncalled for)
