Classic Connect by ToadieTechnika

[raw]
made by ToadieTechnika for LD36 (COMPO)
Reconnect to the ancient or "modernly considered", retro technologies.

A fast-paced typing game, mixed with 80's and Egyptian elements, with various character patterns to follow. You're a decoder pyramid with a typewriter. Decode every retro technology to spread again its existence for the people who either know these or not. Limitless codes to type with different pharaohs (bosses), be fast and never make a mistake.

Can be played on HTML5 (WebGL). Made in Unity.

What a game! This makes you realize how much of a slow typer you really are. My first score was 23k. I like how this game goes along with the theme of "ancient technology" by showing a typewriter. I think it's a pretty decent game. Good work!

This game is kind of hypnotic and I like it! It makes you to keep focus and the music helps a lot into achieving this effect. Well done!

50k on my first try. This was a lot of fun. It brings back good memories from the typing games I played in middle school. The sound and the visuals were great.

Very well polished entry! I do adore typing games, and this one was pretty good! Lots of variety and little tricks to make things difficult... I noticed it was designed for people who learnt how to type, seeing as you used things like the ASDFJKL strings that are taught in classes. Interesting niche!

The background really distracts me which I suspect was intentional. Good effects and graphics.

I was cheating like the best of them using the space bar to pause (and right arrow to unselect the typed text if need be) and then I got a sigil(?) that required multiple separate one character entries and got properly wrecked :( How can a cheater make a honest high score in these conditions!

(Maybe hide the text on the sigils when the game is paused)

Hi, nice game and congratulations ! We're realizing a video with several games of the Ludum Dare #36. We made the same thing at the previous jam.

Can you add your game on indiexpo.net ? (it's free)
So we can include also your game in the video ;)
p.s. write #LDJAM in the game's description.

Hi guys, thank you for your comments and criticisms. I'll still be improving this game especially for Highscores and Medals at Newgrounds. And I'll be busy (because I am out of town, and my laptop is not with me with the game on it) for few days but I'll play your games (both compo and jam) as soon as possible :D

@Rico The Jammer, I haven't encountered of a sigil in my play tests. I'll check it really carefully when I got my hands on my computer.

@steph88, thank you so much for the inform :D ... I might do that on the first week of September (let's say before Friday) because my laptop is not with me. I've checked the website and it does accept downloadable files. You gave me an idea on where to upload its Windows build though :D ... Just soon.

Oh! Sorry if it was confusing: What I am calling sigils are the disks that have on them the text you need to type.

Fun game! I included it in my compilation video series of Ludum Dare 36 games, if you’d like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/ZS5h_OweR3s

Awesome design and music.
I think including some words or syllables at lower levels wouldn't hurt and some indication that some technology must be decoded multiple times.

Don't know why I can't press Ctrl or Command, though..

My high score is 79750.

A pretty silly game, but I wish it were words instead of just random garbage strings. All in all it was fun though.

Fun typing game. The first time I saw a boss I was like "3?? thats it? pffft" then I died because I had to type in a bunch of other numbers. Thanks.

Can't say this was my type of game, but I did like the slick graphics and the smooth tunes and sound effects. Would have been more interesting to put in split paths in the game. Bosses were interesting, but the number typing one was hard to figure out how much progress I was making.

Very slick presentation! Cool music. Tries a couple of times and got the hang of it, but resetting on missing a single target is pretty harsh. I died the first time I met a number boss because I didn't realise you would have to hit it multiple times. >_< Cool to have it on newgrounds! Maybe I should do that with our game...
