I loved the blend of the art style with the music and sound effects.
Can you add your game on indiexpo.net ? (it's free)
So we can include also your game in the video ;)
p.s. write #LDJAM in the game's description. (you can already find several games from the jam there)
there could be added more types of rocks and enemies but generally it's very good
PS: "Noooo !" (great sounds :D)
Graphics looks great and are really cute! I specially liked the idle animation, with the kitten stretching out... It's so cute!!
Sound effects matches the graphics perfectly. It greatly enhances the feedback and polish of the game.
The songs felt really different from your previous LD stuff. Even so, I felt some of your "signature" in the "game state song", and the songs matches greatly the game's aesthetics! It's really good! (but I did miss some of your "more 9-bit-ish" sounds...)
Overall, the game is really polished! Despite having done it in a shorter time frame, both of you did great! :)
Also, the game was very fair. I agree that this game was very polish. Definitely one of the best game I've tried here.
Well, that's some pretty enjoyable arcade with great aesthetics. The animation and sound effects were spot on, and there was enough variety of the items to keep things interesting. The difficulty curve was pretty well balanced, too, making things progressively harder rather quickly, yet not being too sharp. Also, it involves some good resource management element with the log and the overpowered chicken force.
It might not be a metroidvania or a rhythm game, but that's quite enjoyable still. ^^
So yeah, finally tried it (finally as in I got distracted by your previous LD entries and started playing them instead). Very cool stuff, I liked the use of theme, and the cat movement animation to along with it (which, although, gave an ancient egyptian vibe and not a medieval one).
One slight thing that was a bit jarring for me personally was a lack animation from carrying to attacking (just one frame I'm assuming), it could have made it smoother. Loved the detailing though, from the flow to the idle animation. Audio was fitting as well.
Gameplay variety was just enough to keep things interesting, and it had great pacing. There were some very close encounters too, and resource management with logs/eggs to go with it.
An additional suggestion, since people climb up and catch you - maybe have a way to throw them while they're running as well? (or it might break the game flow, I don't really know).
But overall, a very well polished and complete experience for a jam. :)
If there's anything that really stands out in this game, it is the addictiveness! Something just kept me going for a number of runs, trying to beat my score. The difficulty curve over time is just right, the challenge seems very skill-based. The enemy waves aren't based on crazy RNG. All good!
(Actually, there is one problem I have with the controls – in the later stages I often pick up a different object than I intended. Wanted the spike ball, picked up the egg instead – wasted a perfectly good egg that I really could have used later on. And vice versa. I think something highlighting which object is currently 'selected' would be nice.)
Although you've managed the crucial parts of a game – the gameplay, the fun, the controls – extremely well, I still wish there was more to it! The graphics are polished enough, but very simple. The enemies and the weapons all play their respective roles, but I wish there was something more still. 'Unique' enemies every now and then (or at predetermined times)? Additional power-ups? Enemy debuffs? Stealthy enemies? And so on. Maybe the beauty of this game is in its simplicity, but it's hard to tell.
The music is quite nice, seems more complete than the graphics. But I can see that this style fits the graphics you've got better than the usual chiptune sound.
Good job overall! :)
This is easily one of the better games I've played from this compo, and I enjoyed my time with it. I managed to survive two and a half days on my first try, and there were some moments when I felt like a boss by flinging those logs at the right time. Nice.
The gameplay is pretty intense and you need to plan ahead and wisely use heavy objects to stay alive for long time.
Overall, one of the best submissions!
