Ultra Realistic Social Network Simulator by Ludipe

[raw]
made by Ludipe for LD30 (COMPO)
Ultra Realistic Social Network simulator recreates the whole experience of using a social network. You can't win or lose, just waste your time watching the activity feed.

Features:

-Watch random updates from different characters.

-This is not really a game, just like social networks.

-Over 70 pre-made status updates plus lots of randomly-generated quotes.

-Mark your favourite quotes and share them on twitter.

-Pop-ups with warning messages.

-No annoying chat sounds.

-Procrastinating has never been easier.

-94.9% more random than your average game.

Notes:

As most people said it's lacking interaction, that's something I wanted to add from the begining, but I wanted to try out the "activity feed" idea and I run out of time. I couln't work on Monday, so I didn't have the chance to turn this into a jam a entry. It was extremely fun to create this little experiment :)

Known Issues:

-Twitter button is a bit buggy but should work 90% of the time.

Very much like what I do on social media. I included it in my Ludum Dare 30 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) http://youtu.be/CHUuhEZvNWU

Quotes are so crazy, wish you added laughters in backgrounds like a lame '80 comic show. ;)

As many of you already said it isn't a game. It was going to be closer to a game but somewhere along the jam I got sidetracked.

I thought of thousands of features I had to discard because, you know, it's a jam. Like having some kind of conversation with the rest of chracters. What do you think? What would you like to add?

It looks to me more like social experiment, maybe to make us realize how much time we waste. But, to be honest - lately I saw too much fake images with 'funny' disputes via social news feeds to really appreciate this idea. Sorry :(

Hilarious to watch. I wish that somehow the interation did more, like some sort of multiple choice mundane comment system?
Great use of social integration too, but I'm not quite ready to post "Fuck the police (Spiderman) #socialsim via @Ludipe" to my twitter.
Good fun =)

A very entertaining toy! And sadly, very realistic - a reminder of why it really is necessary to just go outside for awhile ;)

As mentioned in the other comments, funny, but not really a game, still a nice idea and take on the theme.

Good job on entering the compo ;)

Love the concept. Would really like to play it again if more interactive features where added. Like the twitter link :)

@Eomir: It was going to be a social network which connected several universes(real world, pokemon, etc) but I run out of time to explain evertything and implement features.

Funny non-game with a heartwarming message of going outside. At least that's what I got from it.

Nice little parody of the social networks, sadly quite realistic. Nice touch linking to the real world via twitter. I'm Morgan Freeman.

Damn, a pity you didn't get to implement some interactivity... was actually looking forward to it.
Still, as it is, it's quite a funny game and/or social criticism^^
I liked to just set the activity feed to super fast, and then clicking on 'don't care' on every post as they scrolled by :D

"Hi I'm Morgan Freeman. And you're reading this in my voice" So true... #socialism
