The Robot Gardener of Donut Planet by racebennon
You are the Robot Gardener of Donut Planet!
Move your gardener left and right with the arrow keys, or the left stick on XBox 360 controllers.
- You start with 30 seeds.
- Press S (XB360: A) to plant a seed.
- Press A (XB360: X) to water your seed and make it grow.
- Once your plant is fully grown, harvest it with F (XB360: Y) to collect more seeds. Every 5 seconds, your machine will consume a seed.
- Watch out for weeds! Weeds appear after every 3 actions you take, and make Donut Planet spin FASTER! Press D (XB360: B) to kill weeds.
- Survive as long as you can for the best score!
Spinning too fast? Make sure you're killing the weeds.
Trouble targeting things? The spigot on the top of your thingy is what needs to be over your target.

When I think about it, you could reduce the controls to just one button instead of ASDF to make it a bit simpler.
I think having some UI at the top or bottom with icons and keyboard buttons would be good.
For the weeds and probably seeds as well, I think the hit boxes should be larger, maybe 1.5 or even 2x the sixe of the sprites. Else it become too hard way to fast. At least for me.
But all in all, I found this a really interesting idea and great artwork.
There's a serious feedback issue though: I needed to write down the different interactions on a piece of paper to play, as they all look like same thing (green orb) or am I playing it wrong? I think just having a different colour for each would really help. Also had really trouble hitting the weeds :/
I think this is an interesting concept though, it'd be worth taking it up and ironing out some of the kinks.
In general the graphical direction is really nice, and even though I ended up getting a bit of a headache from the spinning at the end, I thought it was a novel mechanic. Thank you for the game!
Also I'm pretty sure sometimes I'm spot on the weeds, but they won't disappear 50% of the time anyway. Maybe i just can't aim.
