The Greenening by Erkberg
"The Greenening" is an incremental game about nature. It combines elements of tower defense, strategy, action-adventure and idle games.
This game is best approached in a relaxed, yet curious manner. Just take your time and see what the game has to offer.
Tools used: Construct 2, GIMP, FL Studio, Audacity, jfxr, LabChirp
PS: I apologize in advance for the nasty bugs in the game. :)

found a "feature" : put green guy in front of a tree and throw seeds to him ^^
I enjoyed playing the game.
Next task: Grow a jungle to cover the entire planet. =P
The mechanics are vey well crafted and I enjoyed the atmosphere
However I did get stuck. Once the dude rose up from the ground I couldn't figure out how to progress. Those animals kept eating my trees!!
I had to give up after my hand got tired from clicking.
@Krunoslav: Well, at the moment the game doesn't have much meaning, so the purple monster is just some random idol. I intended on giving the game a meaning like "humanity destroys nature", but somehow got lost along the way.
@Iak: This actually gives me a whole lot of ideas. Just change the scope of the game in different phases and the incremental design can advance further. Maybe even start on a molecular level. Don't want to end up with something like Spore though. :)
@Matthew Rayfield: Yeah, the boss doesn't really have cues on how to beat him, that's a flaw of the game. You have to hit him with the little green guy when his shield is down, which is the case when the green ground (which advances by upgrading plants) reaches him.
Just to suggest you one thing about the seed picking.
May be the pick up could juste mouse over ? Like don't need to click to get it.
I took time to understand that we can hold mouse.
But beside this detail, the game is intuitive and the progression is satisfying !
GreeeaAAat work ..!!
I like the design that you have many way to destroy enemies. Also the relationship between the purple guy and player, looks like we used to trust him but got betrayed, maybe?
And the intro, nothing but the grass. This make me click that without thinking! That mean it work perfectly.
Very well executed. One of my favorites this LD.
The music/sound was soothing and worked with the overall mechanic.
I've also clicked (a lot !) my way to full green before finding out idol's upgrades.
It wasn't clear to me at first that this head was "helpful".
So the massive clicking made it quite tedious, but still I wanted to discover/know as promised in your description.
And I ended up with the idol rising, the plants never fully dying from ants and rocks shower but not capable of growing the plants again as well on this last phase.
That's a bit sad as I would have liked to find out what was next.
Indeed, as you mention in the comments, a bit more feedback/balance could help on this.
Also, for international keyboard, please don't only use WASD. Either allow for alternate arrow keys method, or simply go for ESDF which works on qwerty and azerty alike.
Thanks in advance.
Congratulations on making that game in 48 hours !
Love the music and the mood!
Those spiders didn't stand a chance against my mighty tree army.
I guess the thing is here, it's possible to make it really easy for yourself by just upgrading the fuck out of everything before you start battling. Which is what I did. But I still enjoyed bestowing the wrath of the ents upon my purple victim.
Nice one.
I didn't get the point of having the guy, though... what can he do that just mousing over can't?
