The game is a little slow paced.

@Crafting4U

If you're recieving no money. You'll probably want to build a house first so you can begin producing revenue.

No many things to do, maybe add some random walking people to let player watch

I agree that the game is a little slow paced, but it has a lot of potential!

Perfect game to play whilst listing to a podcast, working and such. A frame skip would be nice in the beginning, but then the money starts roll in.

Same as the others the pacing seems slow and i'd love to have pplz walking around and such. However I loved the graphics and especially the MONEY. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO i'm RICH RICH RICH!

One of these wait till you have enough. I suppose if you had a timer like how long you took to reach $1000000 it might be interesting to see how much you can optimise, but other than that it gets a bit boring.

Bonus points for not doing another plattformer.
I agree that it is a little too slow paced. But on the other hand it's probably the LD game I've been running the longest so far. Just in the background and when I check back in I can afford a hotel :)

/update: I forgot the close the window (because the game is so quiet) and have made $140000 by now. Yay :)

VERY slow at first, but then you just make so many schools it looks like an ocean. Here's my city after that:

I like it, but it would be nice if things happened a little faster (especially the money notifications) and if it was clearer how to earn money.

The game is indeed very slow paced, and as of yet there isn't much to do, no goals, no nothing yet. It could be made into a game, as it isn't a bad concept.
I also recommend some more explanation. If you don't know better and put a road first, you gain no money and therefore can't proceed without a restart.
Graphics were consistent though.

"The game is indeed very slow paced"

It's supposed to be slow paced, so that you can enjoy the gameplay more and feels a bigger sence of achievement.

"If you don't know better and put a road first, you gain no money and therefore can't proceed without a restart. "

It's designed like that to add realism.

Yep. It's too slow as others are saying. Take as proof that I'm writing this while I'm waiting for $$$. And only thing I've done so far was building one house. No one likes to wait like this.. (I've just built another one.. still have to wait :-/ Some challenge would be nice too (e.g. build some monument or so). The engine seems ok, so next time try to aim towards player experience more ;-)

I was able to build quite a bit and I got to 20k revenue but I got kinda bored. Didn't really understand what the buildings do.

I thought I had the game all figured out in the first few seconds but I felt compelled to keep playing and make a whole city. I did not think it was slow paced at all. Just need some decent cash flow!

Things you could do:
* a bar to indicate the next money tick
* although its working, it is a bit boring, due the lack of things going on. I know that this was made in 48 hours, but anyway, objectives, small and long ones can help a lot.
* the pace, after you get the game, is not that slow, could be faster, or let your player decide (as in SC) if he wants to have a fast paced game or a slow paced game.
* Listen! People are giving feedback, grab them with all your strength and see how to improve your game :)

I love SC and I think that if you work this a bit you can have a great game to publish :) Keep up the good work

- Very slow. It's good create a sim game, but it's necessary more dynamic

Due to popular demand, I will be releasing an updated version of PixelSim outside of ludum dare. The update will incude.

- Timer to see how long it takes you to get to get a certain amount of money.

- Cars and people who will explore your map.

- More houses, buildings and infastructure which work together.

- Different difficultys.

- Much needed optimizations.

I like the game. It's a bit slow as some people say and it should have more options but it has the potential to become a good game. Good job :)

Like others have said, the pacing of the game is pretty slow but it does have some potential. The only gripe I have is that everything seems very static (No indication of when the next payday is due, no npcs interacting etc.). Overall, not bad for your first LD.

Nice graphical style, though lack of clear goal does lead to slow pacing as mentioned. Good effort!

Very simple game, easy to get the controls. However, I do think there are balancing problems with the game. Although time is short, so I can understand why.

Are you copy pasting this comment
"Really cool game!

Try mine, http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-31/?action=preview&uid=44154"
everywhere? That's … cheap.

Every time I see a game where you get money over time, I always end up leaving it running overnight.

I have finally converted every tile on the board into a school. This means I won, right? That was the goal... right!?

Regarding a different topic -- could you be a bit more honest in your judging? You rated my game without even playing it.

I know this, because your comment was posted after I had created the page during the Jam's submission hour, but before I had actually uploaded the game to the location. So, it was pretty obvious that your comment was fake. (My page also had "placeholder description" for the game description; did you bother to read even that?)

I don't know how many other submissions you did the same to (maybe you only did it to mine because it 404ed?), but please refrain from doing that in the future. Every time you do, the person or group's submission potentially loses a legitimate player/judge. You're basically stealing them away. It's not cool.

Also, you don't really need to advertise your game in your comments. People can click your name and go to your game's page, and a lot of people here already will check out the games of those who leave feedback on their pages.

For a first trying, it's not good, but not bad, so next time, do a game more dynamic or the same thing but more dynamic. More fun please !
