Talking Heads by ponk

[raw]
made by ponk for LD31 (COMPO)
Talking Heads is a game about information circulation.

Drag and drop heads to build a circuit that translates letters.

Here is a gif of the mechanic : http://i.imgur.com/QYH9Zs5.gif

If all the heads are connected with the last ear, you start a new level.

The compo version have only one level.

In the post compo version the levels are procedural and infinite

The game currently lack of level design elements to make a challenge progression.
Need to find out a simple idea and may be create some hand made levels.
For now there is only one drawing reward when you go the next level, but i will try to provide more content not too late.

Very awesome game! It's unclear to me whether or not there is a level beyond the intro text - but regardless of that, it was still a lot of fun :) very unique and theme-relevant! Nice job.

We need more games like this. It's rare to see weird done well.

Love how weird this one is with such nice use of the theme. Did find it quite addictive and wasn't able to stop until I'd solved it. Would work well on mobile and would be nice to see levels.

It's beautiful, and it got me thinking about various people that could transmit altered information and so on. Very cool. Too bad there's only one level :)

Hi there. Well that is a seriously weird game. Very Python/Terry Gilliam. Shame no sound to accompany the visuals.

Love the art. I'd like there to be more levels (maybe there is and I just can't get to them?) where you played around a bit more with what they said. This IS a game jam though, so I think you've done a great job for 48 hours!

Thank for the kind words :) !
Going to make a level generator when I got time.

But for now I'm going to play and rate some games !

Nice entry, beautiful drawings, and a small minimalist micro-challenging puzzle.
Well done.

Very funny graphics and concept. Everything seems super playful and bouncy <3. The reward was great too ! I agree, it really could use levels. Some conversation audio would be really nice too.

I feel like there is a missed opportunity here where you get a different set of heads per level.

Still fun and weird though.

Funny & original -- would love to see this taken further (not sure how you'd grow the puzzle element without having some heads missing an ear -- maybe have some with really BIG lugs or something!)

Managed to get the reward with one head out of the circuit (there's something I never thought I'd be writing!) -- dunno if that's supposed to be possible? Great stuff though :D

Nice puzzly game mechanic. I really like the art, it's quite different from what you usually get to see and the fact that almost everything is in some way animated makes the screen look very dynamic. I could easily see this become a nice puzzle game with more levels AND you could tell a narrative in an innovative way with this mechanic.

This was super-weird, it took me a little while to understand that the game was actually running, and not a preloader or something like that :D Liked the handdrawn style and the puzzle. Simple and fun, while still being clever!

Hehehe :)

I love the way the game introduces itself in the words that the people are saying.
Seemed to be pretty straightforward to begin with, but really made me think to find a solution :) Very stylish (yay, tweens) AND fun to play. Great job!

A wonderful entry! I'm pretty sure I saw a screenshot of this before the deadline passed, and I'm so glad I finally got to play it.

I wish the game was longer, but that's really just me being greedy - it's such a novel and wonderfully executed idea. The graphical style is very pleasing and works perfectly with such an abstract concept (I love the reward at the end).

I hope you'll pursue this further; I'd love to see where it goes!

The mechanic is very unoriginal, the game is quite short and there is not much challenge. However, the graphics and their style are very good.

The drawings are very funny. I enjoyed this.
It's not quite as luscious looking as your previous entry... maybe if the heads had bodies or something to form a background it would look more complete.
It might also be better if the text had more of a purpose.

nice game,

it would be cool if some heads change the way the message is presented, so you would need to delivery the right message by turning the message to it's normal state

something like that

Short and sweet, beautiful and a little clever. Sounds like the ideal life partner. Do you also do 48 hour human-making jams?

Thank you again for all the <3

Your suggestions really help me to decide what should I do next with that game. (If I have time to work on it)

An interesting entry - there wasn't really much content but what was there was pretty interesting. The art style was neat, but it was sorely lacking in sounds of any sort. Circuit building is pretty fun for a while and quite intellectually stimulating.

Interesting :) Very novel concept. Love the art. Would be interesting to see more puzzle elements added, or investigate more into the idea of information circulation. For example, what if different heads modified information in different ways?
