Minimal Duel by Miziziziz

[raw]
made by Miziziziz for LD31 (COMPO)
Duel other suitors to win the hand of the princess.

Duelists are so expert in this world that sometimes they duel each other twice simultaneously.

Controls are

A - attack
D - block

And then later you'll also use these with your second character:

V - attack
N - block

When in multiplayer mode, red player can be controlled by:
L - attack
' - Defend

and if it's with two red characters you can use left and right arrow keys to attack and block with the bottom characters.

The AI is pretty meh, but I'm happy with how the music and background art came out. I was feeling pretty uninspired with this theme; I had some ok ideas, but my skills weren't good enough to make them in the minimum time I had these weekend (social obligations all day every day).

Tools used:
Audacity
Unity
Krita
my banjo and viola :)

Great art style, it's a bit hard to win whith two characters. Keep up the good work !

Liked the ink artstyle you have going on and the way you've added variety with the extra characters. Music also works well at setting the mood.

Nice visuals and audio. Like the "concept-y" style of the graphics. Couldn't really figure out how to properly play the game, though. If I randomly press "A" or "D" after the countdown, I randomly. No matter what I did, couldn't get fights to last more than a split second. Most of the time the game was counting down. After the second character was added, couldn't score a win anymore. Think with some tweaking that results in longer fights, this could be really great.

thanks for the compliments
@voidqk this setup for the controls was the most comfortable that would allow two people to use the keyboard
@ Rene Damm
the battle begins as soon as 'Fight!' is displayed; were you attacking then or waiting until that dissapeared

Wonderful game, music, and concept... a bit hard to tell what's all going on without audio or visual feedback (but then again I'm just as guilty with my game...)

Loving me some hand drawn/inked art and banjo!

I really like your drawing style. The gameplay is a bit rough, but any game with banjo music in it is cool in my book.

A little too button-smashy /or at least I've beaten it that way/, interesting look, quite nice!

Lovely watercolor art! I just loved the music. Reminded me of Hearthstone music. The gameplay was good but became a bit tedious with 2 characters at once. Great job overall

The visuals and the audio were great. The gameplay was good as a concept but needs more time to be developed properly as you can just spam attack as it is to win.

I would love to give your game a try... is there no way for you to export a Linux build? We Linux folk have trouble with the Unity Webplayer. I understand if you don't have the right license, etc.
