Unicycle by bunnyhero

[raw]
made by bunnyhero for LD31 (JAM)
this is also my entry into #clonejamCMRN http://jams.gamejolt.io/clonejamcmrn , which is one of a series of jams for making games in the style of another developer. in this game, i attempt to mimic the games of Cameron Kunzelman http://heylookatmygames.com/

since this was happening at the same time as ludum dare, i made a game to fit both themes.

Nice. I appreciate the how the world creation and mechanic is integrated into the message. I ended going for quite awhile after the text ended in this strange hypnotic state. :)

I think I got to the end of this tread mill story, but it is hard to know. I found it really enjoyable and interesting to play through. The music effect was very nice too. If it was playing in reverse going backward it would have been fantastic.

It would have been great if the game was a bit more forgiving for when it was allowed to jump and not. On the other hand it sort of fed into the story that it was a bit awkward.

If you had allowed for voting I would have like this in several categories. As I said on twitter some days back, I think this looping of platforms could be really good mechanic if one wanted to make a more typical skill based game. There are so may of those though, so I was rather happy noticing that this was not.

That was really neat! Great use of the theme and a very interesting little story tied in with the platforming bits. I wanted to keep going just to listen to the catchy music. Good job!

Not amazing, but nice to play, and well designed (the music idea is great). Minimalist, but cool to try !

Interesting gameplay! Really like how the treadmill worked as a representation of the narrative. Sound was great, too.

I didn't play the original game so I won't draw comparisons. The concept was absolutely new to me and I liked it a lot. I would have liked it even more if :

1) There was some kind of challenge. Something that would make the player time his jumps, or else he'd lose and start over (from N point)

2) The presentation was better. I think the way you drew the rectangles is OK but the main character needs a lot of work.

If you tweaked it some more and work on the presentation I think it would have been an even better experience. To be honest, I enjoyed it despite the problems I mentioned.

Keep up the good work.
