Planet Defender by Clonestyle

Planet Defender:
Goal - Defend your planet from incoming asteroids and collect power ups! (sounds familiar right?)

Programming / A little art: Tyler Ellis AKA Clonestyle.
Some Programming / Almost all art: Jacob Lewis AKA MediusEcho

We didn't get as much as we had planned done because we ran in to a few problems and were down one day since I had school, but we just barely managed to put something together. Hope you guys enjoy!

The source is mostly self explanatory. It got a little messy there at the end since I was rushing to add the last few things I could.

Congratulation for Making this game !

The conntrols are weird but not bad, wich is strange. The shots are too small, i think.

My advice for next time : Add more "Juice" to your game !

What BlueTheLemon said, but let me explain.

The bullets are too small for sure. Beef those up and make them faster. Add some jitter so they arent perfectly accurate. Its way more fun that way.

Screenshake when stuff explodes is always nice.

Explosion effects would be good.

It's a clone of Asteroids mixed with the old space-war. As being a space game, I couldn't resist to play it. It's not bad, the gameplay is clearly innovative, but needs a bit more polishing :).

Wished my guns couldn't get downgraded after getting upgraded. Having triple lasers, and then accidentally flying over a single laser pickup was disappointing, but maybe that was intentional? If so, having them float around like asteroids might have made it seem more inline with the gameplay. Or maybe even better, getting hit while possessing three lasers would destroy one of the lasers.

liked sound fx and power ups. sprites were really nice as well - earth looked a little bit to colorful in this setting for my taste

took me quite some time to figure out controls :D but when i found out it was ok

asteroids are pretty hard to see

solid game, i like

Oh snap. I loved the controls, the way the ship had a type of inertia. Now I think I ran into a bug. The earth "disappeared" meaning I couldn't see it but when I ran into it I would lose a life. Also asteroids stopped showing up. I also don't get the powerups whether the more of the same type you get the bigger/stronger that bullet is? Consider doing this. Also they spawned too much, consider lowering the chance of giving a power up. Other then that I loved it, keep working on it. Consider publishing to mobile game

Interesting twist on Asteroids with potential. You are meant to defend the planet, but shooting asteroids that aren't on a collision course with your Planet still give you points.

Might be interesting if shooting those asteroids deducted your score.
Also, does the planet ever get destroyed?

I liked the art and the sounds. The controls are interesting too. Well done! And good luck for next time :)

Fun game once you get weapon upgrades and are able to shoot at a decent rate. I really enjoyed it then. Could be the start of something fun. I enjoyed the controls as well.

@AndresGames Yeah I had just found that myself a day ago but I haven't had the time to fix it yet sadly :( but thanks for the input!
And a big thanks to everyone else for your input! it's greatly appreciated! It's our first real game so it's got it's problems but thanks for taking the time to play it!
