12 Hours by Wilson

[raw]
made by Wilson for LD31 (COMPO)
A short stealth game where you have to evade your hunters as they sweep the area for you. Includes multiple difficulty levels and randomized enemy positioning and behaviour so you'll hopefully be able to get a few plays out of it.

Made in GameMaker: Studio, SFXR used for the sounds.

You have escaped from prison the morning before your execution. The revolution has begun, but you have to avoid being captured for 12 hours, at which point the resistance will arrive to liberate you and the other prisoners.

Arrow Keys to move around.
Shift lets you sprint faster for a time. You recover stamina quicker when not moving.
Control lets you sneak, so that you don't leave footprints.

The 1-4 keys define the difficulty and start a new game.
You can restart at your current difficulty with R.

Hiding in bushes means that guards cannot see you, but they can still walk into you.
As time passes, the light will improve and guards will get longer sight ranges (indicated by the rings around nearby guards).
Dog handlers track your scent rather than your footsteps. You cannot avoid leaving scent. If they see you, they will move at the same speed you sprint.

Toggle sound on/off with S.
Toggle the circles for enemy sight ranges between normal (shown when they are near you), always on, and hidden, with G.

Fun little game, graphics are nice, objective was clear. It was fun!
The thing I was missing was sound, there are little sounds. But you did overall a good job!

You keep wishing they don't come in your bush but they do. I like the footprint system. Nice game!

This is a great example of how a little audio can add a lot. Great work! Tense when the enemies are near, I loved leaving intentional footsteps to attract the guys, reminded me of Alien: Isolation ;) Excellent entry. Well done

This was a lot of fun. The game was quite easy until a dog was introduced, which really made things more exciting. Good job.

Simple, effective, clear. Brillant! The graphics are too dark though...

Seemed easy on 1.. then I hit 4 and got beaten with batons rather quickly. Good job!

Really very good! I really liked the tiny scale, but large world feel. Difficulty 3 and 4 were super hard! I managed to escape once and lost the rest of the plays. The variety in clothing among guards and resistance forces was a nice touch. Good job!

Really fun!! Simple stealth systems but they worked very well, I enjoyed that quite a bit! I wonder if you tried adding a different objective, like 'get to extraction zone'? Might change the formula a bit. Even still, I had a good time with it!

This is really cool! Love the mechanic and great use of daylight and the passage of time to work with the stealth mechanics. I just wish the guards were a little more predictable so you could choose a bush and not be suddenly surprised by the change of path xD

Great mood too, btw. Would love a full game version of this, it would work great on mobile as well.

This is a fun idea! Finished on difficulties 1-3. Tracks doesn't seem to be working properly though? A guard with a dog passed right over my tracks without noticing anything.

Really good entry, man! It was simple and fun. I think this kind of stealth game can work on mobile. Think about it!

Simple, fun, challenging. Except on difficulty 4, there it's just a suicide mission. There's so many of them, how am I supposed to sneak past them?! I require either an invisibility potion or Assassin's creed style of combat to murder them. Think about that for the DLC

Great game! The enemy AI is impressive! It is well designed so that you cannot just hide at the edge of the map. Scent trackers also seem to "think differently" as time goes by. Nice work!
