another minimalist game by bitapps

[raw]
made by bitapps for LD31 (JAM)
A minimalist strategy game, conquer other bases, make politicians agreements and spy on your enemies.

create your units to attack other bases(3 in total, red, blue and yellow).
create a politician to make a covenant with other bases and create a temporary ceasefire.
create your own spy to receive a hints to win the game.
#hint : you need more than one politician and more than one spy to conquer a enemy base, this is mandadory.
The greater the amount, the greater the probability(%) to invasion.

At least 5 minutes to conquer all the bases!

* This is a one screen game, made in a a 3d engine, I use fade effects to active and desactive menus, and I chance the camera rotation to make a chance of view in a skybox!

I couldn't really understand what to do. The UI looks slick but there could've been a bit more introduction to the mechanics and what to do.

It works fine, but the game itself doesn't give enough feedback to the player. I felt like I was just changing numbers with little no to impact in the game. I managed to produce resources for a while, and build a couple of things, but then I lost interest. If you had in the bottom a small text that changed with "News from other worlds" that would make it more engaging. It could have sentences that add flavour to the game while giving information. For example informative messages like "New factory open in the Red planet." or more funny ones like "Blue planet invented a new data storage mechanism. They call it the bluray" (this message could appear when blue invests in research.)

Interesting game, but the complete lack of goals and information at the start is off-putting. Seems like it would be better to start the player off with a single unit and gradually introduce 1-2 units at a time. Still, good job!

This is really not bad. Some help at the start of the game would be appreciated, like what should i try to do first, and so on.

Hmm, I had like 50 soldiers at one point and a bunch of aerials but the attacks on other bases seemed to keep failing. It was pretty difficult to understand what was going on, but I think a similar game with more explanations could work well.

Was a bit hard to figure out want to do. I added some miners, but then couldn't add more after 3 miners on each resource. There wasn't really anything I could do in the meantime while waiting for my resources to go up, while getting randomly attacked and losing whatever units I had gotten.

The text is a bit mean, but it is helpful in telling me what to do.

I ended up buying a lot of resources to reduce the time it took to get them before getting everything else. I did covenants with all the colors, but was still attacked. I tried attacking bases multiple times with 3 aerials and 12 soldiers after leaving the game on for a bit, but I still lost.

I recognize that the feedback is something to improve, to conquer a base you need an aerial units for each soldier and one spy for each politician, maybe in a few days I will post the exactly numbers in twitter.

-Not really a one screen game :(
-You should at least give indications on how to play the game in this entry :(

Amazing music.
I found it difficult to really get started. Having a better introduction to the mechanics would be great.

@Magicolo, This is a one screen game, made in a a 3d engine, I use fade effects to active and desactive menus and elements , and I chance the camera rotation to make a chance of view in a skybox! I believe that there are no restrictions to change screen rotation and disable and enable elements.

It's a bit confusing to start with

A cool mechanic, and a legitimate use of the theme. A bit hard to grasp intuitively, but there is definitely some depth to this game.

I agree with most of the others. I had a lot of trouble understanding how my actions were having an effect. It seems like there's probably a lot of depth to the game, but I could have used some kind of map view or something to explain what was happening.

Hi there. Like the neon UI. Configured some things but couldn't seem to make any progress, a tutorial would help and/or a simple game with maybe make a spy as an objective... Funky sounds. Good job!
