The Last Panda by Shimone
I am very excited to take part to my first LD! Here is my entry!
Hidden somewhere in the Great Wall, there is a secret room for an even more secret treasure. Ghosts are everywhere: they want to get their hands on our treasure, but you must stop them, whatever it takes. You are our last chance, you are our last panda!
Features:
- 70 stages!
- 8 types of enemies.
- 8 type of bonuses.
- A cute panda!
CONTROLS:
- Arrows/WASD to move an d jump. You can also double jump!
- Z/M/spacebar to attack.
- 1 for sound/music on/off.
- P to pause.
Notes: I didn't have much time to test all the 70 stages and to balance the difficulty. Any feedback is much appreciated!

But there are several design flaws that result in poor gameplay... Basically your *only* option is to stay at the bottom by your chest to get much far at all. Because:
1. The ghosts don't disappear when they start punching your chest, so they accumulate, so you HAVE TO go get them
2. Your short range gives you no option to use the rest of the space to stop them.
3. The ghosts being pretty much deterministic in their movements - they WILL get to the chest and they WILL get there very quickly.
Unless there're some attacks that I missed or other things that would mitigate that. I don't know how anyone could get through to even level 10... Never mind 70!!!
I have to agree with Tuism, though, in that the only option you've got is to stay right next to the chest and wait for the waves of ghosts to arrive and then wipe them out. That's a pity, as you lose the fun that could result from the changing platforms, which is a cool addition.
I think the effort you clearly put into the game deserves a bit more of work to polish the mechanics/pacing and make it truly awesome.
I have just realized that after some last minute changes the difficulty increased a lot. I will work hard to balance the difficulty in the post-ld version of this game.
I think I am not allowed to make such changes now that the compo is over, but I will update this page when the post-ld version is ready!

Thanks, you have some good points!
1) That is a nice idea. I wonder why I didn't think about that!
2) Your range increases as the character's level goes up. Unfortunately, the game difficulty makes it hard to level up... I'll tweak it!
3) I'll think about some way to make their behavior more "random".

For 48hours it's really polished, a little variety and some alternative weaponry would have been amazing
But well, good job !
I love how the stages change without interrupting the gameplay, great fit for the theme!
The graphics were nice and for a 48h project I'd say it feels perfect. The levelup effects and powerups were a nice touch.
Hehe, 70 stages is kinda insane.
Very cool overall, hitting spacebar got kinda tiring :-) Maybe I should have switched to Z/M.
Also, it is easy to survive by attacking near the treasure :).
