Frank's New Job by SinistraGames

You're Frank, and you've just gotten yourself a new job. Now all your new co-workers needs your help! Good luck with that.

This is a twist on an adventure game. and we went on about the theme of "Entire game on one screen" by having the game always take place inside of the same office space. And you can clearly (hopefully) get the feel of the theme!

We had plans for adding a lot more "gamey" events to the game (as well as tons of more humor, being our main focus). So you would have more win/fail scenarios. There was just not enough time for us!

We built all art from scratch. We didn't use any unity store assets or anything. The only thing that we used that we didn't create ourselves are some royalty free music from the well-known Kevin Macleod!

Which could be found here: http://incompetech.com
(Thank you for the awesome music, Kevin!)

This project was developed by two people!

We were both planning the game together, and we had lots of fun along the way. But, wow. What a ride it has been!

Jannick Lian: Main programmer, some art design, pasta-maker
Aleksander Royson Nilsen: Main art designer, pasta-maker

Tools of the trade:
Programming: Unity3D (2D)
Art : Paint.NET, GIMP
Sound: Audacity

Known bugs unfixed because of the time frame:
- Sometimes you glitch when exiting a door. Exiting again works fine

- Follow the exclamation points! We didn't manage to make it so that you can't go into the room you're not supposed to

- There's no restart button at the end.

Hahaha, great game! The theme was well-executied, and the characters had some awesome personalities and neat rooms. Awesome work.

"Sacked" Lol! I really enjoyed how you keep getting sent everywhere. Each person had a great personality.

Great job on the art and humor. I'm not really a fan of the narrative zero-decision games myself so I can't really comment on the fun.

Pkenney: We had so many ideas, with events and multiple choices but time got the better of us : ) Thanks for your reply!

I like it! Pretty funny dialogue, and nice graphics. I got sacked though, I'm not sure if I did something wrong or if thats just how the game goes. It'd be cool to see it extended into a full game.

Lol, I loved the story based gameplay!
If you're making this into a full game, branching conversations might be a nice addition.

Interesting.... I think it got a bit repetitive, and I felt like clicking off because I did the same thing over and over... although thats abit of a pity because I know it was meant to be to lead up to the last scene. It also didn't feel like a game because I couldn't really make any choices, there were just tasks. On the other hand, the music was good and I adore your awesome pixel style. Interesting game!

Mixer: Trust me, we had so many event planned. So that you could have failure and win-situations. There just wasn't enough time. Thanks for your critique!

I loved it, incredible job well done with design and execution. The characters really felt immersive and unique (a bit like the IT crowd boss). Definitely going to recommend this game!

Another great one for humour, and overlays, why did I not think overlays, so much more use of one screen!!!

We really appreciate all your comments. And we promise to get around to checking out your game if you comment as well! If we receive, we give back... That sounds very manly, I'll stick with that.

Fun narrative but there's not much game in here unfortunately (I wanted Frank to pull out a gun and start a rampage at the office in the end :(). I enjoyed the dialogue a great deal though and the music was good. With some work this could become very interesting as you have a good concept with good characters.

Rocketship: Yes, unfortunately we didn't have time to put in some typical adventure gamey aspects. Like picking up stuff, interacting with objects in the room, etc. We are still considering working on this game in post. :) Thank you for review!

It's clearly not finished, and super linear as a result, but I like what you have. I would have loved to spend more time with these characters to see how they interact. And your art is fantastic!

Excellent job, guys: I like what you managed to pull off in only a few short days. The characters are distinct and interesting, both in their design and through their discussions. I hope you continue to work on this game or explore adventure titles further in the future!
