Orderly! by HypnoBeaverMoose

[raw]
made by HypnoBeaverMoose for LD31 (COMPO)
You are a librarian that was to harsh on people not returning books on time,
so you were sent to librarian hell.
There, your punishment will be to stack books until the end of eternity.

Oh, and you also have a jetpack... because of reasons.
Controls are explained in the game, but I'll also included here:

Arrow Keys - MOVE
SPACE - PICK UP / DROP BOOK

NOTE: STACKING BOOKS OF THE SAME COLOUR GIVES YOU MORE POINTS

ANOTHER NOTE: Thre green glowing book stops more books from appearing for a while, it's not a bug
if it happens to you and you have no books to stack just wait for a short while.

Interesting take on a physics puzzler. Picking up books worked better than I expected - I'm surprised I only once had to fight to pick up the exact book I intended.

I agree with Ryu, picking up books felt great. Unfortunately stacking them often caused the pile to fall for me which was annoying(I'm assuming it was intended though). Still a fun game.

Really simple but fun concept. Although its getting really annoying in like several minutes :)

Cool entry! I kept pressing space to jump (instinctively) and dropping the books, but it's a neat little physics game and I love the lighting effects/audio.

Great work with the physics and presentation! I would have loved if the play area was a little less wide, so the game would play a little more quickly :)

Really fun and innovative game! I like the book stacking mechanic and having to separate them by color was a challenge. Very nice artwork and cute story, really well done overall!

What is considered a stack and isn't is difficult to tell, and rather unfair. I like the jetpack, though. And it's a pretty awesome take on a lot of Tetris-based puzzle games.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone.

@Ryusui: I also thought that would be a problem in the beginning, but it kind of solved itself during development.

@Mincemeat: Yeah, that's the idea, but it was pretty tricky to balance between the game being
challenging and annoying. It seems to be different for everyone.

@CustomPhase: It seems you had the same problem as Mincemeat :). I guess balancing does need more work.

@zillix: It was even wider at first!

@Omiya Games: I had an idea of somehow marking the books that are in a stack, but I never got round to it :(

Hi there. Funny game idea. Found it much more difficult than I thought it would be. Like the sounds too. You do need the golden books, a rest phew. Good job!
