The Awakening of the Golem by DragonZBW (SparkLight Games)
An ancient technology awakens... KILL THE HEATHENS AND RETURN TO YOUR RECEPTACLE IN THE ANCIENT TEMPLE!!!
WASD to move
Left click to punch
Right click to use laser (when charged)
Notes:
- I know it's annoying that you stop when you punch, but it makes it a little more challenging and I didn't really have the time to do the animation I would need to make it look right if you kept your velocity when punching.
- There IS an end to this game. Don't just run around killing people until you get bored. Look for the temple and enter it when you think you've killed enough of the humans. You can go get into the golem receptacle to view the scoring screen at the end.
- Seriously! Please play the game until you at least reach the scoring screen, or else you won't get to feel a sense of accomplishment! :P
- This is my first actually remotely fun or kinda good 3D game (other than some minor test projects I've done), plus it's a solo entry, so please be gentle

The ending is good, I like all the statistics that you're given. Very enjoyably experience all around.
Perhaps the graphics could've been a bit more polished, a bit oversaturated, not quite sure if you were going for the low poly look, or the rogue like look since the intro gave a different impression.
Alas perhaps its just me whos too picky when it comes to design, its the game play that should be the most important. One thing that I found interesting is that they can kill you in the end (stabbed), which came to my surprise that I actually have to "play with caution" and not just randomly kill.
In the overall I think I enjoyed myself!
Character movement is awkward. Don't say me you use rigid body for this.
Giant golem can be crushed by a tiny knife. what?
Overall not bad. I like map level of details.
I was hoping the temple had a pair of ice skates, could of used them - the terrain is not golem friendly.
Great humor though out, interesting game play once you figured out the mechanic and good pay off for completing the game.
Well done.
Can you add your game on indiexpo.net ? (it's free)
So we can include also your game in the video ;)
p.s. write #LDJAM in the game's description.
What I didn't really expect is the fact golem is squishy as well. It certainly adds to the challenge, but it doesn't really feel fair. Tried to fill my laser meter for >20 attempts, then got it to 9 and touched a fireplace. Turns out they kill you - but how would I know about that?
Golem slowness and stopping for a punch, on contrary, feels fair and expected, so that's the good way to make a challenge.
There is a good feedback when punching heathens (sound is doing the trick).
I killed enough enemies to fulfill my laser and go to the temple. I finished the game and i was disapointed to not fight a boss or seeing a meaningful explanation of why i was doing this.
I liked the context from the environment you created, simple but nicely staged. With a more polished version of it and the ability of seeing far away my position i would like to walk in that environment.
Oh, golem controls were pretty bad, i could use it taking on me but never justify bad controls by choice made to add difficulty. Just say you didn't had time for it ;).
