FINAL BREAKFAST: Your World is Toast by GhostBomb

[raw]
made by GhostBomb for LD32 (COMPO)
Make your last stand against the invaders in this retro inspired arcade toast 'em up.

Try to beat my high score of 1119. (this is doable in both versions)

Players playing the post comp version can press F1 to shrink the game if it doesn't fit on their monitor.

You can also now hold a to fire toasts in the post compo, but they are now on a cooldown like the other weapons.

gameplay is good and story and art style is cute.
I had some resolution problems and couldn't see the top or bottom of the screen, but it was still playable

Cute game. Got 693 as my highscore. Nice unconventional weapon choice too.

Really cool game, feels like a finished product. Managed to spam toasts at the beginning but it gets quite alot harder. Love the fact that you can get your dear toaster back, and the special attacks. My highscore was 500 something.

Score 1036 and I'm toast.
Really quite enjoyed that.
Graphics are simple but very effective.
Audio is good, music is great.
Gameplay is a tried and trusted mechanic with a good addition of the different abilities.

Fun and challenging gameplay. I loved how the three different shot types all had their own strategic purpose and you constantly have to consider which shot is best to use at any given moment.

However, I do feel that a single playthrough takes far too long, discouraging me from replaying it (because it doesn't really get challenging until quite some time in). I feel that faster difficulty ramping, higher initial difficulty or making early mistakes more significant (for example, losing a toast permanently instead of temporarily) could help replay value.

Graphics and audio were excellent. I felt the link to the theme was rather weak (existing only in the graphics; the toasters might as well have been turrets as is the default for these kinds of games).

Liked the graphics, but I find it too easy, I discover that if you keep changing the arrow and just spam toasts, you can win easely, besides that, awesome work!

Pretty tight! Just wish it didn't stretch beyond my screen size though... but hey, I guess that's what portrait mode is for!

Welp, 1086. Game is deceptively easy at first, then shamelessly crushes your ego. That's nice.

Audiovisuals are quite pleasing. Not all inputs seem to be aknowledged when trying to play fast, but that mostly balances out with difficulty.

Pretty good overall. Good job!

Graphics and audio are amazing and super cute. I feel that the gameplay could be tweaked a bit to balance the difficulty, though. The only major problem I had was using the explosive toast, it causes the game to crash when the screen is full of invaders for some reason, making it nearly impossible for me to get a good score... Still, very well done, congrats!

Too much cute fun!! Good graphics and great music! It's still stuck in my head and it's not annoying. But I found it was too easy If I just kept going left and right shooting the toast and not risk the other cool weapons!

Somehow plays in semi-fullscreen which causes to cut the down and upper parts of the game, but it was still playable. Nice weapon and challenging gameplay, cute art and music. Congrats!

Spamming toasts is too easy (and hurt my fingers)

Gameplay was fun and the graphics are great. Those toasters just keep going and going. Did find the difficulty should have probably gotten harder quicker but besides that a really nice entry.

What version are you guys playing on when you say the difficulty curve is too low?

Great adorable graphics and solid music and sound. The variety of attacks and different places to launch was an interesting mechanic. Great job!

Awesome game! I love the idea.

The game window did extend below the taskbar slightly, but if I was able to move it with my mouse that would've solved the problem slightly. I see that you added something to fix that in the post-compo version.

I liked how losing toasters had an effect on your ability to fight off ufos. I got down to two toasters left, but they seemed to be able to stay alive without too much difficulty. Then I fired a jam shot that blew up a whole bunch of ufos at once! Yay! BUT then the game crashed. :C

Sidepoint: I prefer it when people put the compo version first.
