Treasure of the Hellbeast by Shpuld

[raw]
made by Shpuld for LD32 (COMPO)
Go dive into the dungeons, and beat the crap out of anyone in your way, with your unconventional weapons.

Your goal is to get to the final floor of the dungeon and steal the valuable treasure of the demons. You have 4 different weapons to use, each have their own use.

WSAD to move, HJKL for attacks, SPACE for roll, Q to quit in menu.
You can always press ESCAPE again to bring the menu.

H = Trout: Quick attack, low range, doesn't use mana.
J = Stop Sign: Slower sweep, pushes enemies back hard, hits instantly.
K = Anvil: short build up, deals heavy damage to all enemies around you.
L = Flowers: self-heal, uses a lot of mana and has a long cooldown.

Game is running on the FTE QuakeWorld engine, all programming for the game has been made in QuakeC language, so I only provided the QuakeC source for the game. You can find full engine source in FTE QuakeWorld's sourceforge.

This game is amazing. Yet, 4/5. I'd rate this 5/5 if it was procedurally generated, if it had potions to restore health (at least one per floor) and if the weapons had some innovative mechanics, not just smashing monsters. But it's still a really great game.

Simply EPIC top-down beat 'em up. My only complaint it that doing a pacifist run was too easy.
No glitches, fluid controls, all sound effects fit, music is okay.

Great work! I feel like the weapons were just kind of art swaps for more traditional weapons. But the graphics are great and the game is pretty impressive, even if the combat is a bit clunky.

a pretty square world, I am curious about this quakeworld engine, it seems appropriate for minecraft style graphics. I found myself using the table slam a lot more than the rest :p the sound and graphics fit together well. i got to see some zombies in the level 3-4, but i ran out of health :(

Pretty nice game. I like the graphics a lot. The controls are very smooth. More variety in the gameplay would have been nice though. Also it's sometimes difficult to see the enemies when they are behind a wall.

audio didn't play for me, so not rating that.

Aside from that really cool game, love the graphics, feels neat. Weapons could use some more innovation. Neatly polished!
