Seismic weapon city destruction by tito2b
Hello all,
I'm a french student and this is my first ld.
For it I based my game around an unconventional weapon: the seismic bombs.
I maked it in C ++ with the SDL, gimp for the images, sfx and flstudio for the sound.
It is a smart game. You play an extremist ecologist who wants to destroy all the cities to recreate forèts
The game consists of two modes:
- a mode where it is necessary used a budget for planted by the bomb which go generated shock waves to destroy buildings.
- the second where we can directly fire at a building, and where we can also put bombs in functions of the levels. In this mode shock waves go only to straight line while in the first one, they are circular .
The way of playing is explained in game but here is all the same some explanations:
First mode: click on a bomb at the top has left to select it, click a compartment to put hit, press space to use the detonator.
The second mode: left click on a building or a bomb to cause damage, right click on a compartment to plant a bomb.
You can press r to restart a level.
Escape to display the menu (level selection , sound settings , back to title screen...)

There was nothing left to do once the money was up. Or perhaps I missed something.
The interface could be improved. The descriptions were a bit out of place or there should have been more separation between them.
But otherwise: C'est bon! :)
The destruction sound was very satisfying and the music not too bad either. I agree that the text was a bit hard to read, but I know how difficult text can be with C++ frameworks.
Don't know why, but I didn't get past the first level with the trigger bomb :/

You're obviously not a native speaker and I don't want to be some kind of grammar nazi, but some of your mistakes are pretty ugly.Try to improve that :) On the other hand I've understood everything and the tutorial is helpful.
Both gamemodes are fun and well made. The second one reminds me of a smartphone game I've played. It's really obvious what is happening and graphics are simple but easy to understand.
In the first one I made it to the level with 3x3 7 skyscrapers. No idea what should I do there. Bombs place themselves sometimes even if I dont click anywhere and I must restart level then.
It's really nice entry for your first ld.
You can put bomb directly on building, use the third on a building to explode it and create a big shockwave to destroy all the others
- You need to work on your spelling and tutorial explanations.
- The timer messages aren't very nice. It's a puzzle game, calling your players slow isn't a smart move.
- A dragged bomb should be dropped when the mouse button is released not when the cursor stops moving.
- The escape menu doesn't block or pause the game and it's drawn under text elements in the game. The volume sliders are also quite hard to use.
There are a lot of levels, which is fine, but next time I'd urge you to work more on the interface making it extra smooth and easy to use.
If the user interface doesn't work you're going to lose most of the players before they get to the later levels to begin with, turning the effort you put into making them rather moot.

Vraiment intéressant, je pense que j'ai pas eu la bonne logique pour résoudre les puzzles, mais je suis quand même allé jusque genre niveau 6. Vraiment cool quand on fait des explosions en chaine :)
