A Planet Hopper by Malsanity

[raw]
made by Malsanity for LD32 (COMPO)
Meet Blip, the Planet Hopper. He likes long walks on the beach and Saturday afternoon movies.

Instructions are in game, but here's a TL;DR:
Move with WASD, avoid red things, touch white things, click to have the white things target the red things, right click to have the white things hunt down the red things. Done :)

Try to use the planetary gravity rings to your advantage, by slingshotting your way through the map. The enemies will, so be careful!

Blip likes to randomly say movie quotes. There are 20 of them, can you guess them all?

Hope you guys like this, as it's my first LudumDare, and decided to make everything from scratch. Also, I'm a programmer, not an artist. Sorry if your eyes or ears bleed :)

Software used:
Engine: Unity 5
Sprites: Photoshop CS5
Sounds: SFXR
Music: ButtonBass

Very creative gameplay! I like the orbiting movement, the simplicity of the graphics and the music!

Had to play five times before I found a minion, I wish I could start with some! Not sure why the ball is randomly shouting punchlines :D

It took me a moment to realise whats going on, but then it was really cool :) Found very few minions but many enemies, maybe an indicator where the next minion is would be nice. Music is also really good.

Pretty well put together game. The only problems I had were the mouse right-click on the web player as it opened the Unity web player menu and the music being a bit distorted.
My suggestion would be to get rid of the locking system altogether and just shoot your minions towards the enemy(unless there is a real function to it that I don't understand).

I played your game already yesterday and liked it. the simplicity of the graphics make it look beautiful classic! I found it a bit too hard and I was not sure, where I am all the time. leaving an orbit was also a little bit to hard for my liking. the worst is the music. not the track itself, because I like electronic music, but it was way too loud!

Use the gyroscope on the phone as a control and release it to android/ios!

I also liked the speach bubbles from the thing :)

Nice work! Music is great, puts you in motion real fast. And nice touch with the sentences, specially "Where are my dragons" and the now classic "We have to go back" :D

I wish the player could move a little bit faster without using the power, but it's ok. Good gravity by the way, reminds me of older ludum dare games of mine. Keep it up!

Pretty good. A puzzle/challenge/exploring game. I found the keyboard use a little cumbersome. Maybe you could use mouse input to help sling the blip?

Really hard game. Like the gravity mechanics of it. The only thing I would change is maybe have 1 minion in the beginning, because if you run into an enemy instead of minion on the first go its instant game over.

Really dug the gravity mechanics for the planets. The game's goal was a bit confusing, and I got a game over after collecting all the minions... which I thought was my goal. Still, great job. :)
