The Sleeper by dollarone

made by dollarone for LD36 (JAM)
Captain's log, stardate 218636.2

I'm on my way to the planet Zebes, but here's something that might be interesting:
The computer is telling me there is a power source hidden in a meteor nearby.
I've got a hunch there's some treasure or perhaps some technology to loot here!
Will make a quick stop to take a look.
Looks like the source is located deep inside the meteor.
It's kind of like a cave but it's way too cylindrical to be natural.

I have landed and will go have a look.
There's even a local atmosphere inside this cave, I won't be needing my space suit.
I will bring my laser pistol, though.
Be back in a sec (famous last words, eh?)

Signing off,
Captain Lance Harding.

Hi, nice game and congratulations ! We're realizing a video with several games of the Ludum Dare #36. We made the same thing at the previous jam.

Can you add your game on indiexpo.net ? (it's free)
So we can include also your game in the video ;)
p.s. write #LDJAM in the game's description.

Short and sweet! I like how the Captain goes exploring an unknown cave in just a singlet and camo pants. Wondering if there's an alternative ending...

Good job! Got some bullet and other effects that remained on the screen occasionally. That weird knife-hand-and-foot dude scared the crap out of me.

This is a really cool game, you did a great job!
I love the wacky character animations and that Edward Scissor Hands guy really scared me when he started jumping around like crazy. Also the sound fits the setting perfectly. For a game jam entry this is 10/10!

I couldn't decide between giggles and worried looks: The animation of the Captain was perfectly wacky and the sounds just creeped me out :D Loved the humour as well. great job!

The audio is pretty cool, dude! The graphics are alright, but the platformer feel could use some work imho. Especially the jumping / falling is a bit floaty, but I suppose you are on an alien planet, so maybe it makes sense.

I found the first ending pretty quickly, but needed some help finding the true ending.

The best thing is when a monster jumps up. Scary as hell, hahaha.

Loved the game!

The mix of large blocks of texts and gameplay was very interesting. It was rather hard to figure out a way to get ahead in the game (which is a good thing!), and the graphics were very fitting!

Sadly, a small bug made the game crash for me as I was starting to win. Will play again soon!

Thanks for hanging out in the stream! Really nice metroid-esque game that you saw I sucked at. The art and animations were nice, aas was the ambient music.

I would improve the control you have over the aim, and perhaps don't let enemies aggro you when they're not in the room!

But otherwise, really solid entry. Great job!

Interesting game! I included it in my compilation video series of Ludum Dare 36, if you’d like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/taJ6gW4nG1g

I liked this game. The monster made of blades and nightmares was fun and scary. The game music was excellent and thematic. The controls were a little difficult, but they didn't prevent me from enjoying the game.
