Online Retro Shooter by Animated
Online Retro Shooter is a fast-paced online multiplayer Geometry-Wars-esque retro shooter! Compete with and against friends (err... random strangers) to stave off hordes of killer geometric figures. The game oscillates between periods of chaos and cooperation -- work with your comrades on coop, but be ready to fight them in chaos. Experiment with a gun which shoots bouncy bullets! Explore a huge map!
Download ld32_client*.jar from the link provided, and open the file with the java runtime (graphical approach on Windows/Mac or java -jar ld32_client*.jar). Requires support for OpenGL shaders.
WARNING: CURRENTLY PRETTY BUGGY. SERVER CAN'T HANDLE MORE THAN 8 PEOPLE AT THE SAME TIME. WE'LL FIX THE BUGS SOON, HOPEFULLY.
MAKE SURE YOU'RE PLAYING ON A LOW-LATENCY CONNECTION WITHIN 75 LIGHT-MILLISECONDS FROM CHICAGO, IL.
Instructions:
Since we didn't have time to make a main menu screen, here's the instructions:
-- Move your character around with WASD, and shoot by clicking or holding down the left mouse button.
-- Being shot or hit by one of the enemies will drain a shield. If you lose all three shields, you will die and re-spawn elsewhere on the map (PRO TIP: DON'T DIE. THE AFTERLIFE IS BUGGY).
-- The game oscillates between chaos and coop modes. In chaos mode, friendly fire is enabled, and the turrets become hostile as well.
The client will automatically connect to our server, but you can run your own server if you want. Just download and run the ld32_server*.jar file from the google drive link. To connect a client to your server, open the jar file (using WinRar or 7zip or your preferred archiving tool) and edit config/serversettings.txt to include your IP address.

The game seems good to me but I think it's not very original based on the theme.
It's definitely very hectic and confusing when you get thrown in. I didn't know what was going on for a while.
It's those annoying little follower enemies that make the game laggy. We've serious issues with UDP packet loss because of them. Hopefully I can push out a bugfix once I finish up some of my other work.
