Dischord: A game about blowing stuff up with music.

Bug Fixes Incoming!

Strum sick tunes to traverse a dangerously cute dungeon & explode the baddies! Seek the ultimate instrument!

Keyboard Controls & XBox Controller Support

Since a lot of people have had trouble with the lack of tutorialization here's a quick explanation:

Play the notes in the right order to kill enemies. They'll grow a bit if you get it right, and shrink back down when you hit a wrong note.

We're wefiends. Two brothers making games since 2008 with musician, Steph Fung. Thanks for checking out "Dischord", a game submitted to the Ludum Dare Jam 32 (An unconventional weapon).

Our toolbox: Cocos2Dx, Flash, Photoshop, musical sounds recorded by Steph Fung & sounds from freesound.org, as well as the 500GB pack generously provided by @sonnissdotcom

Keep your eyes peeled for our newest game, Dandy. A game made in one year, instead of 3 days. Releasing on all platforms & coming to Steam GreenLight soon.

Wow... That was amazing. I don't know how much content there is(I didn't get too far) but as long as it had a decent level of content I would pay for this! If you develop this past Ludum Dare a small suggestion. I think co-op online multiplayer would be a lot of fun.

I loved the artwork but especially the combination between simon-says and a puzzle game. I came upon a bug after playing for about 10 minutes where I didn't see the balls flying towards me, which lead to a horrific death. I can't help but rate you up though, thanks for a terrific game and congratulations :)

I was really looking forward to this game since I saw your logo post on night one and I must say... you guys did NOT disappoint!!

The audio effects were perfect, the graphics make my graphics designer side cry from the beauty, and I love the concept! 100% keeping this game on my machine!!! Love to see this added to and a post-Jam version! I'd instantly buy a full version for sure!

This was great. Serene, until I couldn't get past the blue shooty dude. Fuck the blue shooty dude.

Really really polished. The graphics and sounds in this game were so beautiful. My only issue was that the gameplay was not very intuitive (though maybe I'm just stupid). It was hard to learn how to fight every enemy and when you die, you go back to the start.

Ah, I love it!
Adorable, good mechanic, nice sounds, very clean. I managed to crash it and bug out the shooty guys a bit, but still quite lovely!

nice pattern recognition. Extra bonus that it sounded so nice while you're exploding slimes. Really fun to play. Would have liked people able to do inputs faster. But still very enjoyable

Death is way harsh, I lost focus for a couple seconds after I beat a level and I guess I died after doing so? I dunno, seemed kinda BS. I like the simon thing, and trying to string it together to take everything out as quick as possible makes for a very interesting mechanic!

I'm not a big fan of installers, and for whatever reason it suggested I restart the computer after it installed. I was able to run it without restarting.

Eventually I got to the room with the blue pillar and died from full health. The purple pillar also seemed to have survived the combination that previously killed it.

The concept is really cool though, and the art pretty nice. I liked the intro pillars.

I'm loving all these games with musical elements.

It took me a while to figure out how to kill the first guy, but the last few levels showed some real potential for a full-length game. Very cool.

Such a great game. I'm so impressed with the work you guys made in 3 days. The idea is really good and the art style is so good. I really enjoyed the challenge to figure out the right notes to kill the enemies, I appreciate that it took me a couple of times to understand. By the end of the game i knew the right notes by heart.
I guess this game would benefit from a little tutorial in the beginning, at least for the first monster. Great work overall! :)

Hey, this is really great! I would have liked some kid of visual indication of the notes I was hitting like in the 3d zelda games as I had trouble remembering the order of what I had been tapping. I also ran into a bug in which a yellow slime froze and would not run at me nor be effected by my notes (so I was stuck). Other than that this is superbly polished and was a lot of fun.

Amazing! Really cool concept, looks really nice too. The only point of criticism I have is that I wish the game was a bit more challenging.
Still, amazing stuff right here!

I really loved this concept. Very well executed. Guitar samples were fantastic. Some quirks registering when going fast with some of the patterns though. Love how it rewarded you by memorizing the patterns.

Great job! Top notch!

Really like the clean graphics style. The guitar sounds great, but I wish there was some more chord variety. Maybe the ability to switch instruments for different enemies? Awesome job though!

Lots of fun! Remembering a lot of combinations becomes a bit tedious when the enemies become so diverse. What would be cool to see is some hint/reminder on how to beat known enemies, maybe show 2/4 notes on them or something. That way you could add some combos to the game and enemies that require a lot longer combinations (bosses).

Anyway, it's beautiful and very fun, great work!

P.S. Huh, you've opted out of Audio? A shame, that's the kind of game I actually try to rate higher in Audio, well your Audio points go to Innovation then I guess.

Really cool. Once I realized they all had the same patterns based on color I breezed through everything but it was still a lot of fun! I also had a bug or something occasionally where the towers would fire but nothing would come out (it would explode like it collided with itself)

WOW. This is one of the best all-around LD games I've played so far! The concept is awesome, the execution is great, and the finished product is really fun. I kept forgetting the combinations as they were inching towards me, but eventually I beat the whole game. :)

Cute and fun game! It felt really cool to have the combos memorized by sound and not just button sequence :). Awesome concept.

Really amazing amount of polish! Art looks fantastic and the audio is phenomenal, right down to the pop of the enemy projectiles. I found the core mechanic engaging for a little while, but after a few levels it got to be boring to me. Maybe it could have been more engaging if there was BGM that I had to stay in-rhythm with, or if the chords changed up every once in a while, but I just didn't feel like memorizing any of the sequences.

Other than that, it was a fantastic entry! One of the most polished I've played! Amazing work!
