Recoil by cgriff

[raw]
made by cgriff for LD32 (COMPO)
Your goal is to clear all 5 levels using this unconventionally-designed tank. It packs a powerful punch, but unfortunately it's SO powerful it sends you hurtling backwards an alarming distance. Although this "feature" of your tank may seem to do nothing but increase your chances of crashing into an enemy or off an edge, perhaps it can be turned to your advantage...?

To control the tank use the mouse cursor to orientate yourself and aim, and WASD to move. Left mouse button fires. But be careful when you do so!

Additional Notes:
For the standalone Windows Unity build, I would recommend these settings:
Screen size = 1280 x 720
Windowed = Yes
Quality = Fantastic

I got to Space Ascot which was brutal. Not sure how to kill the green things BUT It was very addictive. I like the music too ;)

Sweetabix, managed to clear it. I think the best strategy is to herd them during the countdown period. Nice work!

The controls make the game a nice challenge. I always move into enemies or outside the board when trying to move sideways. So the secret for me is to only move forward. Nice game!

Liked it. As I do with puzzle games. Keep it up.

Liked how the game progresses, played at first without moving with WASD.

I couldn't get past the first level.

Your backend turns blue when you fire. I thought that was to signalize you could crush enemies with it, but I died from them nonetheless.

Really fun, i liked the idea, and it was a challenge. especially since the recoil dude moved on the global axis, not local.

The concept of being launched back by your own weapon is great. This forces the player not to sit in a corner and attack from there, which makes it harder and it makes the player feel stupid. Both of which are good things. Awesome!

Nice game, but I suck at it. Couldn't pass the first level. Like the music. Initially I thought you could crush the enemy with your recoil (and this would have been the weapon). And next time try to support also ZQSD / arrows (for the moving part).

The throw backwards when I'm shooting, I think is a bit too much. But I like the idea and music.

The combination of moving with keys and moving by firing was a little confusing. I'm not sure the keyboard control was needed. It was good fun though and a neat idea.

Game was pretty hard but fun. Would have liked the knockback to happen a little quicker and less linearly, but that's just a small thing.

Great mechanic, brutal game play.
