Dictator by Tanner

[raw]
made by Tanner for LD32 (COMPO)
Hey!
Killing citizens just by giving orders? Isn't it unconventional? It's life of dictator. Now you can be one!

This entry uses experimental apis(speech recognition and synthesis) and REQUIRES Google Chrome to work.

Instructions:
Just use some words which mate with killing. If you have a problem - speech recognition just sucks - you can freely use buttons.

Good luck! Any feedback appreciated!

Yeah, I only use Firefox type browsers, so I have to pass on this one, plus I don't have a microphone. But good effort trying to use new tech in a LD game!

So do I have to kill everyone ? what about the announcer or the executioner, should I kill them too ? :P

Fun idea, not very unconventional though (it happens all the time IRL :P)

It's really fun but the music is a little too loud. And if you could add more reasons it'd be awesome

A really nice idea, although I spared all the JavaScript haters because JS has hurt too many people already :P

Speech recognition didn't work, but I vote 5 for innovation, since the concept is funny. :)

I would've liked some gameplay, like, a way to lose other than not killing anyone. Right now it's just repeatidly saying "Kill" and though that's fun for a short while, it gets boring very quickly.

great concept and start to a bigger game. Do you plan on continuing? I included it in part 1 of my Ludum Dare 32 compilation video series, if you would like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/-ZkAqIe6FiQ

Wish the voice recognition worked for me, other than that it was okay.

Great idea using voice recognition! I feel like this could be a lot of fun with some more work put into it.

Not bad, the voice recognition broke on me a couple times but it was funny when it worked. Maybe you were going for dark humor but it might be better with a themeing that fit the hilarity of bad voice recognition. A debate for example.

Speech recognition did not work, but it seemed like saying "Kill" 32 times isn't all that intriguing either. A good attempt, but filled with problems.

I had trouble with the speech recognition, it wasn't quite working, I had to repeat kill lots of times and it would only work randomly one time or another.

I was having mad trouble with the voice recognition, but it's cool that it's there and the idea of using vocal recognition is very unconventional :)

I'd rather it have started with 10 citizens over 25, as once I wanted to find out what happens when you kill them all it took quite a bit to click through all the remaining civilians. Also the voice clips would keep queuing up instead of interrupting each other so I'd having the voice talking about guy I killed 3 civilians ago and I'd have to wait for them to catch up.

Overall it's very thematic and innovative. I streamed this game as well so a video is in the works :)
