Colour Rocket by wilsk

[raw]
made by wilsk for LD32 (COMPO)
In the distant future the Empire of Humankind is ruled by evil black and white overlords who have leached all colour from the universe. A small band of rebels have been building a secret weapon which we believe will restore balance to the Empire.

Using your remote control system (WASD) pilot the weapon past the obstacles and defences until it reaches the Empire controlled planets and liberates them. Don't run out of fuel.

-------

NOTES:

- The first note in the "play" menu is quite loud/piercing/ouch - you've been warned! :)
- Using too much fuel makes your controls go dead, there is no visual cue, but its not a bug

-------

Things I would/could have done if I'd had more time:

- Make some of the levels a bit more difficult!
- Made a "fuel low" alert (sound and graphics) as people just think the controls are broken :)
- Reduce the volume on the first loud noise on the planet menu
- Add some more levels.
- Add a bit of a storyline

-------

This is my first LD and my first attempt at making music. Thanks for playing and for your feedback... it's been a fun ride!

nice idea, someone seems broken though as the controls stopped working as I was flying

Controls seemed to stop working. Music and audio seemed good though.

Neat little idea, I like the graphics, though a little easy. Flying right down the center seems to win the first level :P

Same as above, controls are lost.

The spinning asteroids look really cool, but a background of space would add a lot to the space feel.
And that fuel mechanic should be mentioned alongside with the controls, I didn't read the last sentence at first and was confused that the rocket stopped.

Didn't care for the high-pitched noise that played when you select a planet

At first I did not get it, but when I did it was a bit more fun. Too simple though, low poly models look good, although also very simple

I found it really cool.
Really liked the models and black&white.
More challenging asteroids fields would have been even better.

I think the controls stop working because you have run out of fuel (blue bar in top right). Fun game, I found it confusing that the background moved rather than me, if you see what I mean. In the end it was more awesome.

Pretty idea for a game but the controls are a little too stiff for it to be interesting! We should start from farther, go faster, en turn faster!
The music is a little stressful too :S
Nice game though!

Overall very nice idea, I'm assuming the first 3 levels are intended to be easy but if you do expand you have a lot of options what to include or how to evolve the game. Fun idea really! GJ!

Great possibilities of expansion.

Liked the simple and lowpoly graphics and the music, not to short.

Neat concept, though the perspective makes it difficult to avoid rocks sometimes... and I felt like one time a rock hit me through a planet, but I may just be bad at the game.

At first I didn't like it, as changing direction was so slow, but then I realized I was approaching it wrong (was expecting it to be more "action-y" at first, so the slow controls seemed wrong). As a "zen" game, it works great, though! This is the type of game I could play for a long time, in the right mood.
