Sound Runner by Makay
ATTENTION, PLEASE READ THIS:
- Please read the controls below before you try the game or you won't know how to play as there's no in-game help.
- Pay attention to the top overlay as it will be very useful right from the beginning!
-------------------------------------
Background story:
Dr. Paul Felix is an Intelligent Systems researcher who managed to build robots who were capable of making decisions of their own. However, the robots soon got too intelligent and one morning Dr. Felix found his lab completely destroyed. Soon he found out that the robots had escaped and started building even smarter and stronger robots who were capable of killing people and steal their vital energy in order to sustain themselves. Once he saw this scenario, he quickly called out Epson, The Sound Runner, in order to save humanity and the world!
-------------------------------------
Instructions:
The objective of the game is to use Epson's keytar to kill robots in order to save the world. Epson's keytar is able to absorb energy from every robot it kills, however if you run out of energy you're pretty much dead. If you collide with any robot/obstacle you will also die instantly.
PS: This is actually an infinite runner so there really isn't an end. It's still fun to try and beat your friends' scores though!
-------------------------------------
Controls:
Space bar: Start/restart/pause/resume the game.
Right/left arrows: Jump right/left in order to dodge robots or obstacles. (Or get in front of them for ultimate killing!)
In order to kill the robots you need to use the number keys on your keyboard to match the corresponding sequence.
Below are the key combinations to kill each type of robot and their score multipliers.
NOTE: The top overlay will show you the sequence you need to execute in order to kill the robot right in front of you, so you don't have to memorize any of this. These are here just as a reference.
- Minibots: (10 points)
. Green: 1 (x0.5)
. Grey: 1 2 (x1)
. Blue: 1 3 (x2)
. Red: 1 4 (x3)
. Purple: 4 2 (x4)
. Golden: 3 1 (x5)
- C69: (20 points)
. Grey: 1 2 3 (x1)
. Red: 1 3 2 (x2)
. Purple: 1 4 2 (x3)
. Golden: 1 2 1 (x4)
The future of humanity is in your hands! Good luck!

This game was entirely made in HTML5 by me and two more friends from college.
We used three.js (WebGL) for the graphics and a couple of small libraries for the rest.
I wrote most of the code while one of my friends made all the textures in the game and the other worked on the HUD.
It was the first game we ever made (besides Pong) and we had a great time doing it. We know it is far from perfect but we're really proud of what we accomplished in this first attempt.
I want to keep working on it after this but we'll see if that happens.
I really hope you enjoy the game and please leave some feedback! We'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on this!

However I find that the mechanic is actually quite nice and visually everything runs silky-smooth. I think a bit more time is what this game needs.
Thank you very much for your feedback! The black screen isn't actually a bug, it was meant to be a start menu where it explained how to play and had some options but we ended up not having enough time to do it.
I definitely agree with you that this needs more time in order to be a "good" game but I hope you had fun anyway.
@Makay: It works fine in Chrome. Chrome supports WebGL.
The graphics were cool though his running animation needs work. I like the concept it can be pretty fun at times, though I wish the robot killings would be more intuitive or at least mentioned in the game. It is hard to memorize all the codes. Overall, it is a solid piece and I did have fun.
Great job overall, keep up the good work!
The controls are fine and the game is interesting. However, its quite hard to kill an enemy not in your lane since you dont know the sequence to kill them before being in front of them. I'd recommend being able to see the sequence on each unit on screen somehow.
Otherwise it ran great. Good job on the entry !
