Detune by geckojsc

Detune is a rhythm game with platform elements.

Something strange happened in your kingdom, and suddenly it is full of monsters and thorns!

Fortunately you are THE GOD OF BASS* **, so you embark on a journey to defeat the evil creatures using the power of music.

Controls:
- Arrows to move
- Number keys (1 to 8) to jam to the rhythm

Written in the ooc programming language with my own engine, Vamos.

A git repository and updates to the required libraries will be posted soon, along with Linux builds, but for now the source is included in the game download.

Known issues:
Moving the window will suspend the game loop (while the audio is still playing), which can break the sequence. The problem will correct itself after 30 seconds or so.

I'm definitely jealous! Great entry as always, loved the music although those last patterns were hard to get perfect, and the game is unforgiving.

Congrats!

Woaw yeah great entry my keyboard hates me now. Surprising mix of platforming and rythm. I passed some patterns by mashing keys like crazy, is this allowed on purpose?

Thanks!

Yeah, it only checks for correct presses, not mistakes. I decided to keep that in because the game was already quite difficult, and I didn't want to spend time potentially breaking the system that was already working. :)

Really neat! The button mashing is kind of an issue... maybe you could balance by giving a bit more warning time before the notes?

had to 'cheat' to get through the last one. Awesome entry! love how the rythm is added on

I really, really like the idea of this game, but the execution could be better. I would say that the one thing that would make this game much better is if there was some type of indicator to let the player know some time before you have to press the notes (like most rhythm games). That or stick with consistent patterns that are easy to watch and mimic. A lot of the later patterns had no easy pattern to follow, making it extremely difficult to actually put in the rhythms. Unfortunately, this led me to just repeatedly pressing my number keys to get past the rhythm sections.

I definitely see a lot of potential though and I would love to see this built upon. Also, the music was really great and I love how each part added more layers to the music throughout each stage.

Awesome!
Was pretty hard to finish. But the music kept me going.
My hands hurt a little now...

Excelent entry. We also created a rhythm game so you should check it out!

Really nice idea, I really like the fact that the music changes as you keep going, like some kind of positive feedback.
The game was really hard, and I got frustrated before finishing it.
I also must say, that the music didn't feel like a weapon, but more like a puzzle, which could have been avoided with some notes spwaning at the player's location and moving towards the enemies

Woah, this is totally rad, I love build ing on top of the track. However, I'm stuck at the bramble I don't know what I'm doing wrong I'm hitting every note. >.<

I must say I find the visual cues for the rhythm quite noisy and hard to follow, I'm much better off if I just close my eyes and listen for the beat.

Wow, love the concept it's brilliant. The actual mechanic is tricky, very tight timing but also impossible to predict the notes and patterns without seeing them slide down towards the squares (like most rhythm games). Button mashing appears to be the only way to win the game. Still - the concept is "sound" (haha) and I'd love to play a game like this with lots of musical layers! Oh and simple but really nice art style.

I've finished like 10min ago and I kept it opened to keep listening the music. Although is a basic loop, sounds great ^^
I was one of those who mashed the keyboard to pass some difficult parts hehhehe. But the concept is pretty good and I also liked the graphics.
This entry is gorgeous. Congrats! :D

It was a bit hard for me to get the hang of the rhythm thing, but it's a quite nice game nonetheless :)

wow, really nice music and mood! the feedback from the music parts is a little bit tricky and you can 'hack' it if you press all num keys really quickly.
A little bit more tweaking would have made this really great. As it is, it is still a wonderful game :)
