Orb Defender by Acuity

[raw]
made by Acuity for LD32 (COMPO)
Air hockey with a twist! Score by hitting the puck of your color into the opponent!

I wrote the song for it in about 2 hours, it's here for download on my SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/acuitynpc/orbdefender

Controls:
WASD for Blue and Arrow Keys for Red. Both can hit the purple puck, blue can hit blue puck and red can hit red puck. The puck changes color each time it hits a wall.

Notes:
There are still some bugs - it's possible to spawn multiple pucks by having multiple collisions happen at once, and the score gets weird after that. It took me a while to figure out how to use variables from other objects, and I ended up doing a really convoluted way of keeping score (it's a variable on the purple/blue/red puck which despawns and respawns).

I'll actually try to clean this up and add stuff for a post-compo version later. The code is really messy and it's still buggy.

The controls seemed far too slippery and the pucks were flying too fast to reliably hit.

I'm not sure the puck changing colour is interesting. Might be better if each player has their own puck?

Nice one, fun multiplayer functionality is hard to do in such a short time, you managed well :)

It's quite a hard game to play, maybe adding an IA, for playing alone would have been nice but the time was short I know, is there a score limit showing a winner and a looser ?

The controls are a bit frustrating and I can't see any inconventional weapons here. The music is nice, though

Its very difficult to control. The idea is good, but need some polishment. Lacks BG image and UI.

Great audio, though I thought the pacing made it nearly impossible to play. Maybe if you had two mice controlling the combat? With keyboard, there's a real mismatch of control vs speed, imo.

After a while I had no clue on what's going on anymore xD. Loved the music. Wish I had someone to play with :c
