The Warlock by Rothens

[raw]
made by Rothens for LD32 (JAM)
Well, this Jam was a bit odd for us. We already coded through the whole week because of the Nokia Code Jam, so we were really tired and demotivated in the weekend. But saturday was a lot of fun, and we have many ideas, that we didn't really managed to finish.
The story is about a Warlock, who cast spells against his enemies, who are using KittenKannons(R)(C)TM. He only can use his astral body, when he stabs himself with his beloved cacti (that's why he holds two cacti in his hands). But that really hurts, so he'll lose HP for every spellcast.

Well, this was the concept, but we ran out of time. So this is just a "skeleton game"

Planned Features:
- Different, levelable spells, that CAN miss easily
- Actual enemies lol. (The art is ready, the code isn't)
- Less bugs

The multiple "play" buttons at the menu kind of surprised me. Do they serve any purpose?

In terms of graphics, the particle effects for the attacks are nice, but they kind of clash with the other sprites. The floor texture also kind of makes me dizzy, but that is a minor complaint. I also get random freezing and crashes, but I'm not sure if its just my Java acting up.

For a skeleton game, a good concept. It has potential.

I walked around for a while, but couldn't seem to find anything or do anything else ... that said, I like the walk animation and was excited to play more.
