Not My Panties! by Karai17

[raw]
made by Karai17 for LD32 (JAM)
Not My Panties! is an innovative, award-winning masterpiece about a young, erm... "girl" who is being harassed by the track team at... "her" school. Their harassments may out "her" secret, so "she" must defend herself with "her" over-sized stylus. Yes. "She." >_>

This game has 5 normal stages + a boss fight and *is* winnable!

This game requires a GPU capable of OpenGL 3.0+ (2.1 if you have good drivers). If the game crashes when you hit "Play", it is probably a driver issue. This game may not run on older Intel GMAs. If it lags, we're sorry. We're working on optimizing our engine for the next LD!

Note: If you have a gamepad plugged in, it *might* cause random crashes. This is being looked into.

This game uses a slightly customized nightly build of the LOVE 2D game framework. This game will be updated to run on the next version (0.10.0) which will contain the features needed for this game to run. In the mean time, if you wish to run this game on OS X or Linux*, read the build instructions below.

Running the game on OS X or Linux simply requires you to rename the source archive from .zip to .love.

If you would like to read our design document, I have posted it here:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/12958391/Ludum%20Dare/LD32/Design%20Document.pdf

* Apparently this game runs on WINE under Linux!

Finally, if you would like to download the game from itch instead, you can find it at:

!!BUILDING LOVE3D!!

LOVE3D uses a slightly modified version of the LOVE framework. You can download the source form the following link and build it like you would normally build LOVE:

https://github.com/excessive/love3d/releases/download/0/love-vb-src.zip

Alternatively, there are Windows and OS X builds pre-built here:

The game unfortunately crashed upon clicking 'Play' the first few times. Then I did not click the button again. Your UI was nice though.

While the gameplay felt solid and instantly familiar, the mechanics themselves were kind of opaque so I was just picking different attacks and specials randomly without an idea on what could be a good move right now. A little more info on what each move would do would have really added a layer of strategy and fun here.

The style or the subject matter are not really my thing so I won't comment on them too much. :)

"Cant run from a trainer battle" XD

The animations can be a little jumpy but that doesn't stop me from enjoying this game! Pretty funny and nice voice acting. This game is pretty funny and although not the most polished game, it has one of the best and responsive rpg battle menus so far. Great work!

@jesterwilde If it crashes on "Play", it sounds like a driver issue. This game requires OpenGL 3.0+. It may not work on older Intel GMA chips.

@Docjekyll ᕙ(° Д°)/

@j_peeba Thanks! Yeah we put the % hit chance in at the last moment. If we had more time we would have spent time adding more useful information.

@RobotHoboDanceParty I love your name! Our voice actress had a blast doing those lines, I'll let her know it has been well received! Animations were choppy since we spent a lot of time fighting our tools :( Next LD will be better!

@strong99 The words of Prof. Oak come to mind, "You can't do that here!"

The fact that this was made in a 2d framework, and runs so well, is very impressive. I am looking forward to the 0.10 update, as it seems like you have done a fantastic job.

Good job on the voice acting, it helps making the game more humorous. Great entry!

Cute graphics, funny (telepathic?) attacks, decent voice-over... Too bad I lost against Panzer-sensei ^^

You sure reeled me in with that name and picture. Interesting choice to use Löve for 3D stuff. Your zip is missing the 32-bit versions of msvcp120.dll and msvcr120.dll though, but after I grabbed those from my Löve 0.9.2 folder it worked smoothly.

Gameplay was just me spamming Girl Power though, so not the most impressive thing in that regard :P.

Haha, you'll get points for humor, but the game is pretty boring, and all attacks are the same, and some animations are broken.

@Windmill Games: Thanks!

@Dixbit That's Panzerkampfwagen IV Ausführung H-sensei to you!

@nassi We only had enough time at the end to do a bit of balancing, we couldn't thoroughly test it so it ended up having one reeeally strong attack

@SpringCabal Admittedly, the game gets a little old, fast. If we had another full day we could have done a lot more with animations to liven it up but what we did have was created in the final hour. ;)

I love this entry. Right off the bat the voice acting is hilarious. All the dialogue for the track team members is funny and ties in to their names. I particularly liked the Tsundere Track Star... Not that it was that special or anything... Then the boss battle out of nowhere? Great choice for the boss battle music too, it's totally not what you'd expect. As stated in a few of the other comments, the game does suffer from being repetitive but I kept playing to see all the dialogue and how it ended and I'm glad I did. This may be my favorite overall LD32 entry so far.

@Team Ex-Sword-Stential: There is a weird bug where having a controller plugged in may cause that crash. If you unplug it, it should work. We're looking into it!

The game have severe FPS issues, even if it claim 60fps looks like 10.

In the end the game is not fun or original and the setting add nothing different to an "unconventional weapon"

@MonoS: The game does run at a solid 60 FPS. The animations do leave something to be desired, we had to throw them together quite quickly at the end.

Tried it today, it was pretty nice !
I think there's a bug though : When hitting a pervert with the stylus, he gets propelled to his right and gets past the wall, before reappearing, standing normally, in front of me. Seemingly this didn't happen to anybody here.

Oh and I'd hug that final boss too.

And yes, Panzerkampfwagen IV Ausführung H-sensei is so kawaii~ <3
