made by 6x13 for LD32 (JAM)
Warigami is a Retro handheld LCD inspired two dimensional fixed shooter game. The unconventional weapon is friendly fire. We made Warigami as 6x13 team for the jam. We sincerely hope you enjoy the gameplay. We do.

HOW TO PLAY

Move with LEFT/RIGHT Arrow keys. That's it. The aim is to make the enemy ships shoot at you and accidentally destroy the enemies on the other side. Avoid the bullets survive as long as you can. You need to reach at least 10.000 points to win. See if you can reach it!

Each ship in hitbar represents 10 hitpoints. So one ship in hitbar is dropped only you got hit 10 times. The game ends after you get 50 damage points in total.

There are three types of bullets:

Arrow "➤" deals 1 HP damage.

Striped arrow deals 2 HP damage.

Triangle "▶" deals 3 HP damage.

Love the way that the game speeds up as you play even though it gets slightly confusing near the end as so much is happening. Overall a fun game.

Haha the fools, they kill themselves. Nice game, nice homage to that handheld game and watch type games.

I really liked the style and the concept. The lives system is based on a certain quantity of shoots you take? Because sometimes I get hit and don't lose any lives and sometimes I get hit and lose a life.

Thank you very much for all the valuable feedback and nice words!

Wevel:
Yeah, that bothers us a little as well, the solution would be to decrease fadeOut animation times when game speeds up, but it had the risk to ruin the style reference to actual retro style so I decided to keep it the way it is for the jam. We'll reevaluate that in later implementations. Thank you.

Actually each ship in hitbar represents 10 hitpoints. So one ship in hitbar is dropped after you got hit 10 times. The game ends after you get hit 50 times in total.

There are three types of bullets as well.
Arrow "➤" deals 1 HP damage.
Stripe deals 2 HP damage.
Triangle "▶" deals 3 HP damage.

I really need to write those in Game description. Thank you randoman.

Really liked the battery-powered minigame console look. Would be amazing if it had a timed soundtrack as well that intensified every thousand :)

Great job!

Thank you! We'll try adding that in later updates. It would really fit the increasing speed of damage and movement sounds.

Cool Game & Watch style graphics! Different images for each position would be great for creating the illusion of animation.

Great concept and style! Just a bit confusing, but I guess it's because of the style, it was hard to understand what was going on xp. Nevertheless I was able to beat it!

Thank you very much! Yeah, it actually gets confusing when as it gets faster, but that was really part of the LCD console experience, so we didn't want to ruin the nostalgia by trying to make the the action more distinguishable than it was then. I still locked the maximum speed though not too early. It is great to hear you enjoyed it and beat it!

My current High Score is 45258 Points. We would love to hear yours!

I didn't have time to put the high score in the game over screen but will do so ASAP. Till then, sharing the last scores you've seen on screen would be cool. And you can hit "P" for taking a screenshot. Enjoy, and thanks!

Really nice game ! But you need a healthbar in there though, because it is confusing. Maybe the interface should have been worked on a bit more ?

Taking a classic arcade style and turning it into origami was a cool idea.
