UN Convention by RockhopperGames

[raw]
made by RockhopperGames for LD32 (COMPO)
After years of war, the United Nations has finally decided to pass a motion banning all conventional weapons. Now, nations from around the world rush to slip in exemptions to allow their secret weapons projects to continue. Whoever is most successful in shaping the new convention will become the foremost world power!

My second Ludum Dare, and it hasn't gone great. The idea was a bit overly complicated, but I managed to scrape something together at the last moment. Sorry it's so unpolished, and I think there might be some bugs that slipped through, though I've caught all the ones I could see now. Oh well, at least it's a good learning experience!

(For optimal play experience, listen to Sim City music while playing ; P )

That was a nice political game, it needed a bit more feedback or screen information. I kinda felt like having to write down which country has what and who are allied, which I didn't but still managed to win the game by one point.

Music was nice ;)

I like the idea, and the pun..
The game is complicated to get into. But after I realized what was going on it was fun.
I still don't know how to make something look bad in comparison to itself, but that might be a question for another day. :D

A nice, if a bit complex, take on politics. Good graphics!

Really nice idea. I wish there was a bit more feedback on what each country has during the debates, but very well done. :)

Thanks for all the feedback so far!

@Marcellus: I was wanting to add a bit more feedback, and even had a few more visuals ready, but I didn't have time. I could definitely have rearranged some of the information to make it more accessible though!

@Markus Becker: I spotted that bug near the end, but decided it was too funny to remove. I imagine it's confusing for the characters too!

@fserb: I'd added little notes and anger marks for if you offend or please them, but perhaps a reminder for if you know what they have could help?

Fun game. I didn't know what i was doing at all for the first 5 turns, then i figured out i should try to win. Apparently the rest of the world didn't like me very much, though. Well done, all around.

Maybe not suited for the genre but perfect for the jam nonetheless!

Pretty nice political game, it was pretty hard to get the gist of it, but in the end it was fun.

Not bad for a game you made in only two days! The whole idea sounds promising but the game is a bit confusing, you don't really know what you have to do or what you're doing. But the political satire is original.
Congratulations on finishing your project =).

Wasn't sure the point of the game. very political, which isn't my thing so I didn't find it too exciting. interesting concept though, but no weapon.

Surprisingly in-depth, with a hint of strategy. I feel though that I'm only skimming the surface with this game - a guide or tutorial would be great. It looks like a lot of effort was made into making this political strategy.

I LOVED it! It took me a try or two to work everything out, but I thouroughly enjoyed playing this little masterpiece! Only thing though is that you sorta get tossed into it without a lot of explantion. So, a tutorial would be REALLY nice!

Very complex game and you nailed the theme! I really like the turn based concept but sometimes it was hard to see the response of you arguments. Nonetheless, great game!

Very difficult to get :D After a while I think I get the idea, but still not completely because of the missing feedback. Anyway nice idea.

Great theme and funny in places. An issue with the text overflowing the container in the trade view but overall nice fun game.

The graphical design was gorgeous but unfortunately nothing else was. The game play was vague if not non existent, and the lack of a score and sound effects really took from the overall atmosphere.

Quite funny and some nice presentation. It was really hard to keep track of what was going on. Very unconventional!
