Word War 5 by SmallPhil

[raw]
made by SmallPhil for LD32 (COMPO)
My first Ludum Dare game ! It went really well (I finished my game in ~ 20 hours). I decided to make a typing game ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

The weapon is a word-powered laser.

Have fun !

Very simple yet fun! It goes a bit out of the theme tho. But anyway, overall it was good !

It's hard to play if I have a small monitor....
I can not see the word in bottom-right corner...

Seems like a great concept, I could see this being a fun game for people to increase typing speed, it was also rather fun too

Definitely the funniest way of learning to type with a keyboard :-) I missed some music and maybe some screen shaking. Also the wall of text that is the menu doesn't feel inviting for me.

Cute graphics. Good sound. It was fun at first but no sense of progression - was an end created? Could have been more levels, or harder words, enemies faster, etc.

I like this! I think instead of pressing space twice (once to load, once to shoot) it should auto-load as soon as you type the word correctly.
I would've loved to play this game as a kid when I was learning to type, instead of playing the dumb airport-simulator-typing-game thing my dad bought. Haha

Nice game really liked the graphics. It would probably be enough to press space once to fire though. I also didnt found this as hard as the others say even though im not really into typing fast.

Very adorable characters. Not original but good execution. Good jobs guys.

PD: It is the second game of write words that I saw in this LD.

Nice work! I like the spin on typing games; usually the aliens have a word associated with them, but I like how the weapon is loaded with the words (I disagree with other people about pressing space twice; I thought it was a good mechanic). I found the game too easy to be engaging for long; some more enemies and mechanics would be cool if you expand on this. Great job!

Kinda fun, but needed to ramp up the difficulty - I found it way too easy.

Killed when I made an errer (error).

I like how your typing game requires people to look at the screen, not their fingers.

I like typing games in general anyway... a very successful interpretation of the theme.

Good job, I had the same problem as others that I couldn't see my word due to my screen size , if there was a way to full screen the game would be awesome :-)

Really nice concept and well executed. Some kind of goal or variety in the enemies would have been nice. Also, it was hard to have to look down at the corner to see the next word.

Thanks for making a small-screened version.
I don't know if there is a penalty for mistyping a word other than having to re-type the word again.
Very nice typing game.

Great simple game, I kind of wished the difficulty would change over time. Like just spawning enemies faster the longer I play, which also create more of the awesome multi-kill-moments.

Simple but fun and addictive game. Perhaps a bit easy: I didn't notice if the number of enemies depends on time elapsed or number of enemies killed or just a fixed time.

Fun game! It remembers me those fast-type games. It could have variable difficulty though, like having to type phrases or more enemies/second.

Pretty solid! I liked the aesthetics, and the gameplay felt pretty good. It'd be nice to have some music as well as some different enemies / enemy movement patterns.
