Pebble's Bakery by simon.parzer

[raw]
made by simon.parzer for LD32 (JAM)
Play as Pebble the Bear and help him run his small bakery.
Everyone loves your bread rolls, they are sold out very quickly!
A fascinating game teaches you how to make the rolls, and always watch the oven so they don't burn. Nobody likes burnt rolls!
Open the shop, and make sure to keep your customers satisfied. If there only was a way to make your small stock of delicious rolls last longer. Good to know that Pebble never gives up. Did we mention he is a bear?

Super well polished - when I first saw the thumbs I wondered if you would use bread as a weapon, turns out... yes!

This is amazing! One of my favourite entries so far. I love how the game's split up between a fun bread-making minigame and the action shop-keeping part. Also, I laughed out loud when I realised I was meant to mug my customers to get the bread back. Graphics are adorable. The music is catchy and the sound effects are funny! Great :D

I wish the bread game could go for a little longer - maybe I could buy more time with the money I make?

WOW, this is the best game I've played so far. You guy absolutely smashed it, well done! The only tiny complain I have is that it seems there is no granularity in controlling the distance...

It's fun, you should try to fix some bugs with collider masks and adjust the input to make it easy to aim when you shoot. Also, it would be nice if you add more features like different types of bread :)

Excellent game. The comedic value is amazing, and that's on top of being a well refined and tuned mechanic!

There are just two things:
1. Mouse is a crap replacement for touch, so I'm gonna look forward to seeing this on the app store :)
2. The game needs a lot more variety in the end because the novelty of the great core mechanics wear pretty thin pretty quickly. My biggest question while playing was "when does this end?" or "what's next?"

Over all REALLY good. One of the best so far :)

Love the game, great use of management and then action.
Great art style.

Re: Eye Rush, the chain is lost when you let a bad guy slip past the bottom of the screen. But you're right, I could have made it clearer why and when you lost the chain.

Tuism: Unfortunately the game never ends, we ran out of time on the last day. But I totally agree, the days should be different and there should be some kind of showdown on Saturday, would improve the game a lot.
Thanks for the kind words so far.

Man, this game is fantastic. The concept is great, the art is amazing and the execution is perfect.

It was fun to master the egg tossing at customers, but that's no way to run a bakery. I eventually realised I could hit an egg the furthest distance just by double clicking and it removed the challenge. I then rained a barrage of eggs in front of the door and no one could enter. Soon I realised it was more lucrative to let them buy bread then crack them over the head with an egg on their way out. I eventually tossed so many eggs I made over $1000 and the game slowed down to an unplayable state.

I would like to see a few minute timer on the shop portion of the game. Right now it's quite easy to keep milking the gullible customers for money ad infinitum without loosing a single roll.
In Pebble's world money buys you nothing, so that really isn't a good incentive to keep going. After the timer ran out Pebble could eat all the delicious rolls himself and gain a few seconds of extra time per roll for the baking section next morning.
This would also allow you to ramp up the difficulty on the shop section as the week progressed (or as you had more rolls to lure in hordes of people) making it harder and harder not to loose a single roll to the greedy customers.

Some use for the money would be nice as well.
You could, for instance, throw in a police officer who, if hit by an egg, would end the work day instantly and give you an expensive fine for assaulting an officer of the law.
Bakery upgrades as well, of course, but you probably have many of those already planned out.

Love the Easter-Egg. It was more fun getting the money off the patrons that way. Fantastic pixel art, great expressions and animations. A very good, enjoyable entry.

Great game! Multiple game mechanics, impressive artwork… Love the attention to detail, the funny and cute theme… it’s amazing you managed to produce so much content in so little time! Definitely one of the best entries this year.

Got everything else right, except there could have been music in the shop part. Also, I would've liked a more accurate aiming with the baguette, as there are only three points where you can hit with it. But all in all, very fun little game!
